people forget how valuable Smith was in the '10 postseason and he didn't get a big contract, neither did Brunell. They did not keep us from signing Braylon.
I'm sure if they wanted to resign Cro and Braylon off the bat, they would of gave him offers during the resign period and not let him test FA. Cromartie got a bigger deal because we chased Nnamdi
A Bitter Ex employee talks out against his former bosses? Shocking!! Its a good thing he went on to be all pro in San Fran and Seattle to prove how valuable he was.
You're being ridiculous if you don't think certain stats matter. You don't see how completing a high percentage of passes with a decent YPA helps the football team? And enough with the ridiculous subjective stats argument, as it's pretty clear to anyone with working eyes that Sanchez's struggles with accuracy go beyond poor route running or drops (which EVERYONE deals with). You think it's a coincidence that quarterbacks widely viewed as the best in the league generally finish with exceptional qb ratings? Obviously stats aren't everything and there are anomalies from time to time but you're nuts if you don't believe they're part of the evaluation process...especially over a 4 year period. Good play will generally reflect in stats at some point.
U just made Edwards point. The reason he only had single coverage was because Sanchez had other weapons around him to worry about. Who around Sanchez this year and last that teams had to worry about?
Edwards makes a good point. It might partially because they dumped him after a productive year, but management has utterly failed at developing him and giving him weapons. QB coach needs to be fired.
@OfficialBraylon I would like to apologize to the Jets family and my fans for my emotional outburst. Mark is a friend and former teammate, who I...
stats tell part of the story, people just posting rankings and individual #s don't get it. He was MUCH better than the #s showed just like last year he was much worse than his #s showed. I'll take a guy w/ poor fantasy #s that makes plays to win over the Ryan Fitz's, Philip Rivers of the world that "step up" in garbage time to pad stats.
You cant definitively say the offense regressed because we lost a WR in Braylon. I would say the offense regressed because the FO refused to revamp the offensive line. Mark Sanchez sacks in his 4 years in comparison to the avg of the first 4 years of other QB names commonly mentioned on this board. Now his 4th year and Freeman 4th year are still on going but I just included this season sack total up to this date. You pretty much get the idea. Sanchez was supposed to be the franchise QB yet they did nothing to treat him like a franchise QB aka protect him as others have been. Mark Sanchez: 30.25 Average sacks per 4 years. 2009 - 26 times. 2010 - 27 times. 2011 - 39 times. 2012 - 29 times (season still on going). Matt Ryan: 21.25 Average sacks per 4 years. 2008 - 17 times. 2009 - 19 times. 2010 - 23 times. 2011 - 26 times. Eli Manning: 26.75 Average sacks per 4 years. 2005: 28 times 2006: 25 times 2007: 27 times 2008: 27 times Josh Freeman: 23.5 Average sacks per 4 years. 2009: 20 times 2010: 28 times 2011: 29 times 2012: 17 times (on going season) When the Patriots realized Tom Brady was going to be their future, they went out and revamped their line to protect him. You see a significant decrease in his sacks per year. If you notice, all the top QBs in the league are well protected with the exception of Rodgers whose sack total is consistently high - how much of that is on his line I don't know, he scrambles a lot more.
His argument is he HAD made plays in the past. Just like Kordell Stewart made plays from time to time when he "led" the Steelers to two AFC title game appearances. Didn't stop the Steelers from replacing him.
I absolutely agree, I don't care what he did in San Fran or what he is doing in Seattle. When he was here he was a huge part of our offense and made some huge plays to help us win some big games. He had rythm and was comfortable with Sanchez. Deion Branch hasn't ever done anything except with Tom Brady as his QB does that mean he didn't help that team win a SB? If I remember correctly he won a SB MVP Award but when he went to Seattle he was a joke so I guess that means he sucks. He fit into the system and that explains why he had success as a Pat and not as a Seahawk. It happens all the time. Guys fit into the system. Don't forget we also let Leon Washington go... another playmaker. All these guys were role players and yet they were huge keys to our success because Edwards,Washington and Smith could all hit a home run everytime they touched the ball.
Who has positively STUNK and that signing would have been a fiasco. How the Jets thought he was Revis II is beyond me. He's WAY overrated when QB's throw at him -- which noone did in Oakland because the Run D stunk !!!!!!!!!!
