Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Are you serious? There's a very good chance that Sanchez starts this week but it won't have a huge impact on the future of our organization, it's just the team trying to put the most experienced qb at the helm as we fight for a playoff spot. Once our playoff hopes are gone, believe me, McElroy will start. Seriously, though, if you're throwing your support of the Jets away based on who starts against the Jags, just leave now.
Clearly Rex Ryan is doing what he can to not be fired....this makes me think McElroy might start, not for football reasons but for Rex's career...
It's one reason I don't go for the internet argument "Well, _______ disagrees with you and he works in the NFL as a ______." They're all more qualified by background to exercise judgment than me, but they'll disagree with one another and get it wrong all the time.
You really think we are going to the playoffs??? Not a chance, the best we can be is 9-7. That's not going to get it done, and we loose most of the tie breakers. It's about the status of our QB position, for next year
I have stated, and still believe that the reason Sanchez has made it this far is that Tanny is telling Rex to start him. Say what you want, but Tanny is Rex's boss. Woody realizes that McElroy created a spark, and people will again want to see what the Jets offer. He was losing money by starting Sanchez, and people not coming and spending money. Now everyone will want McElroy's Jersey, and burn Sanchez's. That is all the intelligence he needs about X's and O's. Rex wants to win, and has been frustrated with Tanny forcing his hand. You can see it in his face.
Helluva post! @ the game when we were kneeling, I told the fellow season tix holders to look @ their e-mails this week for #14 jerseys...I honestly wouldn't be surprised. TannyWood is a fuggin joke...
LOL. Saw the name Manish Metta and according to "sources" on the article, and instantly closed. I feel bad for giving him the web hit. Sorry, I don't trust him or his articles. This dude couldn't survive without making up stories and attributing them to anonymous sources. Fuck that guy.
Well, even if the Steelers went 9-7 as long as the Colts (8-4) and Bengals (7-5) didn't finish more than 9-7 we would still get in. I could see the Bengals finishing with two or fewer wins as they play the Cowboys, Eagles, Steelers and Ravens. Probably wins against the 'Boys and Eagles but losses to the Steelers and Ravens. Although they play the Ravens in week 17 so they may rest some starters making it easier for them. It wouldn't be impossible for the Colts to finish with just one win in their last four games as they play the Titans, Chiefs and Texans twice. They wouldn't really be expected to beat the Texans but would be expected to beat the Titans and Chiefs but if they have a surprise loss then they finish 9-7 which is still pretty impressive considering where they were last year. They also play the Texans in week 17 who may rest some starters as well. So, yeah, the odds are definitely against us, I wouldn't bet on us getting in. The problem is we shouldn't have to rely on other teams to lose to get us into the playoffs, we should have won our way into the playoffs. Assuming we win out the rest of the season, which is by no means guaranteed, just one win probably would have made all the difference...I'm looking at you home game against the Dolphins.
Are you not on record complaining about the use of FA's to patch up holes in a make shift approach? And I was as pleased as anyone the Jets went to those games, but they were very lucky to do so. That approach did not even lead to a conference title, and left the team in the shape it is in now. As for Mangini, we can talk all day about how good or bad a move it was to make him the HC. But what is objectively the case is that he only lasted three years with the Jets, went to Cleveland, and was soon out of the NFL. I can't give more than a C for that move. I would also add all reports were that Woody deferred pretty much to Tagliabue in hiring Edwards. Edwards himself was at best a mixed bag as a hire. I tend to be more negative on him than many. As I said I liked the Ryan hiring at the time, mostly because Mangini was done. But I did not like that Woody kept Tanny, and even Ryan is becoming problematic. To me the bottom line is the Jets right now are worse than when Woody bought the team. Sure they have gone up and down, but the long term trend has been negative. And I don't see an easy bounce back to contention, either. Woody fixing things - doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies.
I almost forgot about all of the March 2012ers...We should have a eulogy at this point for their wonderful fandom.
F all the haters. I prefer Sanchez but if Gmac get the nod im still a Jets fan and if Gmac went down we still have a reliable backup, vice versa. Lets hope the Jets play all out and get in and then it's fair game esp since we play better on the road.
Meh. The Jets were going to score at least seven more points if Greene had not taken a knee on the 1.
Again, I don't think the short leash idea works here. If McElroy is likely to play at some point in this game, he should be named the starter, since as the starter he will practice with the first team. If Sanchez is named as the starter, McElroy will not get the practice.
Who said what is beside the point. All these guys are clowns. Since when has Tanny shown any football knowledge greater than the average fan on this site? And Sparano seemed to excel in mishandling Qb's in Miami. Sure Woody is a clown. He's just the head clown.
This is the Johnson and Johnson circus, and they're obsessed with public exposure although how THIS makes it out into the public is beyond me unless it's Woody putting his name behind on it to exert more public pressure.
If Sparano says Sanchez should start, we should definitely start McElroy. Everything Sparano does is wrong.
