Bayless said in that clip, which I assume is correct, that the doctors had cleared Tebow to play. Well, that doesn't mean he's 100%, of course. So it's still not clear to me that Ryan had no concern about Tebow's health. And will not have any for the Jville game. Having said that, for reasons that are all too familiar around here, I do not disagree that if Tebow were suited up and McElroy was inactive yesterday, I think it much less likely that Ryan would have put Tebow in there. But it's not because of some conspiracy to ruin Tebow's career. I think it's because they have never felt Tebow was a good fit to run the Jet O. And they still don't. Criticize aspects of McElroy's play and lack of NFL experience all you want. But he is the kind of Qb that fits in the Jet offense. We don't know how well he can execute more than we saw yesterday. But he has the basic skills to play the kind of Qb this offense is designed to depend upon. Tebow does not fit that description. Hence the fact that McElroy was #3 is beside the point. He was their real best option to play when Sanchez finally was sat down.
tebow gives the jets the best chance to win... but that really isnt important, since the rest of our season isnt about winning, with the playoffs not a real possibility. 3 weeks ago, sure give me tebow. now lets see what greg mac can do. hell maybe even give tebow a full series here and there, just to please the fans. either way, tebow clearly isnt in this teams long term plans. McElroy could be, as a starter or backup. we need to find out. starting sanchez helps us in no way shape or form
You guys need to watch this. http://www.newyorkjets.com/photos-a...-McElroy/9783ef0e-3db2-47df-b361-3d800f5ecb33 Here's why McElroy will start. Listen to him talk about the defensive offsides calls the Jets started getting when he was in. That's something Sanchez has NEVER been able to figure out as simple as it is. McElroy did it in his first start and it was a big part of why we were able to move the ball. If Sanchez were still in he would have been sacked and probably would have fumbled. I hope this isn't another "if we could put McElroys head on Sanchez's body" type scenario ...
I was totally wrong about McElroy. I still think he has a noodle arm, but if he can manage drives like he did yesterday, protect the football, understands the power of ball faking and makes reads at the line of scrimmage; he is already far superior than "rocket arm" Sanchez. I loved what I saw out of Greg as a leader and game manger yesterday. He was put in a tough situation and excelled.
On the road with no announcement as to who will start at QB, the Jets have still been installed as a 2-point favorite. On the road vs. a 2-10 team with a 31-ranked defense that gave up over 230 yards rushing against Buffalo yesterday? I think Sanchez gets the nod.
It will be ironic if we blow Jacksonville out at home, like every other team has and all 3 QB are active and plays
I feel the opposite. I was sure he would name Sanchez starter today and when he didn't, it made me think maybe McElroy has a shot.
it will be sanchez, and he'll get benched again because he won't be able to overcome the mighty jaguars defense
Rex is really uncertain...I think after watching this press conference I am more confident that Greg will be QB or Tim
I think McElroy deserves a one full game audition. After the season if Sanchez is still around, there should be a full blown QB battle between Sanchez McElroy and some other guy. Kind of feel bad for Tebow now, I think he wanted to go to NY because he thought is was a quicker way to start again. I don't blame him if he is angry about this.
My gut says Sanchez starts. The question is how long of a leash? One interception, two, a sack fumble, what will it take to pull the plug again? I really think this is the perfect scenario to start McElroy. A bottom dwelling team that he could likely have some success to get his feet wet. We already now Mark can handle the shit teams, seeing if Greg can is the first test.
biggest issue with keeping sanchez in there is he could easily go 4-0 playing just avg and that solves nothing because the first time he plays a good team he will turn the ball over 4 times again unless sanchez is going to miraciously find something magical these last 4 games the smart move for the well being of the franchise is too see what u have in mcelroy and then go from there into the offseason
