its hard to build up adrenaline when you are out there with a qb who has made back breaking mistakes all year. after a while guys just lose focus. thats why change just for the sake of change is good sometimes. it gets everyone playing hard again... its like a new start in the middle of a bad season
stop using 32 touchdowns like mark had a good season last year. mark was terrible last season! He LED THE NFL IN TURNOVERS!
mark throws 3 interceptions, and 2 other that hit defenders in the chest that were dropped, and you want to blame nick folk? even if its 6-6, sanchez likely throws another pick to give AZ a win
you say that like its not one of the most important aspects of the game. i can see why, after watching mark for 4 years, that someone might become numb to turnovers, but not stat correlates more to winning then winning the turnover battle. if mcelroy never throws another TD, but never turns it over either, he will already be 5 times more effective then mark
You can't use stats to prove your point, then disprove stats that don't fit your agenda. Mark wasn't great last yr by any stretch, but 32 TD, is 32 TD (5th best in the league).
exactly. All the Sanchize fans point to McElroy's numbers & comment how they weren't that impressive. However, McElroy most impressive stat wasn't the yardage or pass attempts, it was the ZERO turnovers. What those fans want is a gunslinger who can put up numbers & just don't give a damn about any turnovers which happen along the way.
Not throwing TDs won't get us the Lombardi. Jets need someone they can trust to make plays when they are available. Especially when Mark helped us get to the AFCCG twice. It doesn't work that way, you can only hide your QB for so long before he's exposed. That QB is not on this roster.

After yesterday's game I felt the Jets won a big playoff game as the underdogs. Finally there's a chance we're gonna see light at the end of the Sanchez era. Even if McElroy isn't the answer there's finally an admission by the Jets coaching staff that Sanchez isn't the answer either.
Everyone turns the ball over eventually. However, I'm not gonna label McElroy as turnover prone as Sanchez until he actually fails to that level on the football field. Sanchez is so turnover prone, it's not rational to view any QB in the NFL on Sanchez level beforehand.
For some segment of the fanbase it will NEVER be Sanchez fault. Hopefully those people will change teams when Sanchez goes elsewhere. Let some other fanbase deal with his loony tunes following.
32 is great, but not when it comes with a league leading amount of turnovers. TD to interception ratio, passer rating, and completion percentage are much better indicators. he was terrible last year. like one of the 5 worst players in football kind of terrible
it would be hard pressed for him to turn it over anywhere near as often as sanchez. 45 times in less then 2 seasons??? awful.
I see some die hard Sanchez Fans are talking about having him start, but be on a "short leash". The thing is, once you decide who your starting Qb is, you are all in on him for practice that week. The backups do things like working the scout team O. The starting Qb gets all the reps with the starters as they work on plays to run against the opponent. Why go that route with Sanchez if there's such little confidence in him as someone who can stay in the game? Why think there's a high probability McElroy gets in the game later, but not give him the reps in practice? Conversely I think the Jets should be very interested in seeing how McElroy can do by practicing with the first team and then going out and playing sixty minutes. And there's no downside to staring McElroy. The reality is yesterday's switch makes it unlikely Sanchez will be back next year. Time to move on and see what McElroy can do with the rest of a season Mark Sanchez came very close to completely destroying.
If McElroy had any Sanchez in him, he would have thrown a pick on the first play, like Nacho did yesterday. Consider that. It is a huge momentum changer - especially for offense, since then they can play knowing the QB will not hold the ball too long and throw stupid INT; or better yet, commit some stupid shit a la The Ass Fumble (TM).
Not in 2009-2010. We wouldn't of gotten to the playoffs without him. That version of Sanchez is long gone, and so is that talent. We need stronger QB play though no doubt. The Jets don't need a stat-padder, they need someone to win games when the running game or defense cannot. I don't see any QBs with that type of cerebral play in the near future.
