I love how those two games keep coming up like they mean anything at all now.

In 2010 the Jets were 3rd in the league in total and rushing defense and 6th in passing defense.

In 2011 the Jets were 5th in total defense and 5th in passing, but 13th in rushing defense. I can remember a few games where the inability to stop the run cost us the game - remember Oakland?

And now? 7th in passing, 18th in total defense and 30th in rushing defense.

3rd to 13th to 30th. That's not a fluke, that's regression. The defense is still better than the offense, but it's not good enough when you have a head coach who is defensive minded to the point that he brings in Sporano for an outdated ground and pound offense to protect his defense.

It's clear Rex is not a good offensive coach to say the least; that would be fine if this defensive genius was bringing in one of the all time great defenses. But that's far from the case.

And yes, Tannenbaum is a bigger problem, but you don't think Rex doesn't have a ton of input in management, especially when it comes to the defense? You don't think a bean counter listens to a "defensive genius"?

How long is he going to live off that? You would have thought we would have won the Super Bowl for people to keep bringing those up.

This clown ass thread is still going? Rex benched Sanchez today and you know it ate him alive. It had to be done though, and it was the right move. Rex is staying. I'd bet the farm on it. People talking about his job security are being presumptuous at best, there's no reason they'd bump him. 2 good years + 1 mediocre year + 1 bad(maybe mediocre) year with major injuries, doesn't mean you instantly fire the head coach. Don't forget our defense was around 16th overall before he came, so if you're mentioning regressing you have to include that, which is a big improvement. Also don't forget we're playing without our all pro corner who's one of the best of all time at his position, our D-tackles have been banged up, and our linebackers are aging. The D is perfectly fine. Of course our passing D is going to drop a few spots without Revis. LOL at blaming Rex. We're in a transitional period up front, and a couple LBs away from elite.

Rex saved his job by benching Sanchez. Plain and simple.

But be Rex is not the DC, if he was nobody would ask for his head.

He is responsible for building and preparing a winning team.

Enough of this load mouthed blowhard, he wouldn't know an offensive play call even if someone scribbled it on the bottom of his wife's feet.

Good thing he doesn't call offensive plays.

Well he shares responsibility for building it with Tanny. We don't know enough about who is making the calls on guys like ducasse and Holmes and starting a season with hunter to know who is responsible, but whoever is responsible for those moves should get canned.
