Or one of them loses three of four and the Bengals lose two. But yeah it's slim and none and slim just left the building this afternoon.

Well, Indy probably has a spot. BUT, they can lose twice to the Texans easily. Tenn is probably the best team to upset the Colts.

It would take a miracle, but I don't mind backing into the playoffs (which I think we'll do).

Houston'll probably be resting everyone by the second game.

Had we beat the Pats, we would have been in the same spot as we are today, to be honest.

So if the Colts take the 5th seed and we tie (9-7) with the Bengals AND Steelers, who gets the 6th seed? Would our AFC record be better than both of theirs?

Yes, our record would be better.

7-5. Each of them would have six conference losses if they lose to one more AFC team.

Bengals win. Steelers Win. Colts win.

The Wild Card Standings look like this:

    Colts:8-4
    Steelers:7-5
    Bengals:7-5
    Jets:5-7
    Bills:5-7
    Dolphins:5-7

Everyone else is eliminated. The top two seeds get in. The Jets, Bills and Dolphins all need to go 4-0 to even have a chance. A 2-2 record the rest of the way more or less clinches a playoff spot for the Colts. Steelers most likely clinch with a 3-1 record. Bengals also most likely clinch with a 3-1 record.

The most likely scenario for the Jets making the playoffs is that the Steelers end the season 2-2, Bengals end 2-2, while the Jets end 4-0, also assuming Miami doesn't win the out.

The Steelers have Home against San Diego, @Dallas, Home against Cincinnati, and Home against Cleveland. If Ben plays, its hard to see them really losing any except @ Dallas and possibly Home against Cincinnati. Without Ben, they can lose to any team in the league at any venue. Batch pretty much sucks, and had to play a perfect game to just beat Baltimore by 3.

The Bengals have no easy wins left on their schedule. They play Home against Dallas next week, followed by @Philly, @Pittsburgh, and Home against Baltimore to end the season.

The best case scenario for the Jets is that they win out, Miami loses just one more game. The Steelers go 2-2 for their remaining schedule where they beat San Diego and Cleveland, but lose to Dallas and Cincinnati. The Bengals also go 2-2 for their remaining four games where they lose to Baltimore, beat Pittsburgh, and split the first two of Home against Dallas, and at Philly.

Its certainly possible that this happens. I wouldn't call it likely. I think the Steelers have 3-1 written all over their remaining schedule, while the Bengals will go 2-2. That would require the Colts to go 1-3 over their remaining four games. It would probably take a sweep by Houston over the Colts, and a split of @Kansas City and Home vs. the Titans.

The odds don't look great now, but its far from impossible that we make the playoffs. Our playoff odds two years ago weren't that much better, in fact at one point something like two or three different scenarios happening would have eliminated us for the last two weeks, and they didn't happen. We beat the odds and made the playoffs that year, its probably more likely this year than our odds were that year, so the hope is still alive, although no progress in the Wild Card standings has been made since last week.

Like last season, we could have beat the dolphins. But before the 4 o'clock games started. We were dead in the water. And thanks to sanchez , we lost the final game against tony sporano's super bowl. Now we can win our next 2 but by week 16 and 17. Some other teams are gonna clinch like the luck "lucky" colts.

    What?

The Jets would be 1 game out instead of 2.

People are forgetting that the Bengals MUST be the Steelers for the Jets to have a chance.

If Pitt wins against the Bengals, they hold the head-to-head-to-head tie break.

In a two way tie, that is true. We own it over those two if they both go 2-2 for their remaining two games, and also assuming that the two games the Bengals win aren't both of their two remaining conference games(@Pittsburgh, vs. Baltimore), which in that case it would be a tie at 7-5 between us and the Bengals for the second tiebreaker scenario, which would then go to the third tie breaker of record in common games.

This shit is complicating. Basically, we need to win out. If either the Bengals or Steelers win three of their remaining four, we are fucked, which then we would need the Colts to shit the bed over their last four.

The Jets have 3 loseable games. The Chargers are the best team they face. Tennesee has the makings of a trap game and the Bills shouldn't be over looked because they will be looking for payback after being humiliated in the season opener, and they've got the leagues 7th best running game going up against our 30th ranked run defense. As long as they keep themselves from having to pass a lot they can easily beat the Jets.

Thats true, but its also possible that the Colts shit the bed for their last four. They face Houston twice, @KC and Home vs. the Titans. Its quite possible that the Colts lose 3 of those 4, just as its possible that they win 3 of those 4. If the Colts end up at 9-7, we make the playoffs as long as the Bengals don't win three of their remaining four. The Colts haven't exactly blown away many of their opponents, a lot of very close wins.

All this shit is very complicated, but at least we have a chance. After this horrid season, I am fine with us just having a chance to make the playoffs.

This whole thread is assuming the Jets win out. Of Course we have games that are loseable remaining. This is the NFL, any team can lose to any team. However, we should be favored in all of our remaining games, and if those results of our games hold up as they should, we should end up at 9-7, which is where all these other scenarios would matter. I agree that we can lose any of our remaining games, but they are very winnable games, that we SHOULD win.

    Cinci has
    Dallas
    Phili
    Pitt
    Balt

    Pitt has:
    San Diego
    Dallas
    Cinci
    Cleveland

They both need to go 2-2.
Someone has to lose the head to head macthup. Dallas becomes huge games.
