sanchez is not the same qb he once was. he just proved that he is not willing to step up to the challenge when things are going bad. ive been very patient with mark, but enough is enough. 4th year is almost over and he still cant get over mistakes hes been making since his rookie season. he might get another chance to start again someday in the nfl, hell he might even start next week, the only thing that is for sure, is that the jets have now officially started looking for a new option at qb.
He is the same player he was 3 years ago. Actually he is a little better now. The difference 3 years ago he was not allowed to throw the ball in passing situations and his exposure to turnovers was severely limited by the play calls. There is reason why we ran so many draw plays on 3rd and long. Basically he was protected by running game and passing only in non passing situations. When he did pass they were short quick reads where his ability to make a game changing mistake was limited. Every time the last 4 years that they have tried to give him more responsibility it has to have been immediately removed. Every time the offense has been opened up he has failed and it has to have been immediately simplified for him. Not to mention defenses have learned that Sanchez folds under pressure. Apply a little pressure to him,he panics, makes mistakes and its game over.
Nah he was much better in year 2. When he had to throw the ball, he did and did so greatly. He wasn't losing games for us in year 2. He wasn't in year 3 either until the midway point of the season. Remember, we tried to give him more responsibility starting in year 3 by getting rid of Woody, losing Turner in the preseason, losing Braylon and replacing him with out of jail Plax, and removing JCo and getting Mason. Not the best strategy and it failed.
Sanchez was a better QB for the first 8 games of 2011 than he was in 2010, the talent dropouts kind of masked that though. Then he just fell off a cliff. He really is not a capable QB right now and as much of that is related to the talent around him at least that much is related to his inability to manage the mental part of the game.
He needs to get over it, talk to Alex Smith, he got benched many times. It is a performance based business, period.
Makes you wonder if we made a concerted effort to keep Holmes/Bray and add a RT that offseason, where would be? Oh well, it's not the McElory placeholder era!
It just doesn't matter any more. Sanchez was really done by the end of last season. If Chan Gailey isn't a total twit and the Jets don't trade for Tebow this change probably happens at the bye.
his year 2 performance, including the playoffs is what kept me hopeful about mark. last season i blamed schotty, this season he has shown flashes but ultimately he just cant get his head in the game and not make a boneheaded play every couple of snaps. i dont know what his deal is, maybe the media got to him, maybe the disrespectful fans in the stadium were too much for him to block out on gamedays, whatever it is, he just isnt as good as he should be or could have been.
Yeah why is it that other QB's can get benched and not lose there confidence. But when it comes to sanchez. "That's it, He is ruined"....
Tis why the only thing that might save Sanchez next week is the fact they're on the road. They obviously haven't watched Sanchez the last two years then, he's already ruined.
i want to strangle whoever made the call on the tebow trade, because we could have still had drew stanton. best case scenario, we get flynn from seattle this offseason. i dont know who else we can bring in right now
Dude, he threw an interception on his first play from scrimmage. That alone should get you benched. The fact of the matter is, everyone played a LOT better with McElroy around. They weren't always looking around the corner for the 'next mistake'.
I'm just wondering ... Is there a SINGLE Sanchez suck-up who still thinks he can play in this league? Anyone still want to tell me how it's about the lack of talent around him? Anyone want to remind me how he "led" us to two AFCCG's? I certainly hope not, because after this performance, if you really think Sanchez is an NFL caliber QB you are totally lost. If not for seeing Lindley first hand, I'd say Sanchez is easily the worst QB in the game, and it's not even close. But Lindley is actually worse ... and that's the only reason our season isn't completely over right now. If AZ had a competent QB, we would have lost this game by 2 TD's ... SOLELY because of Sanchez. We might be stuck with Sanchez and he might be our starter next week ... but please don't tell me you think he can play.
I'm not a suck up, but I think he has physical ability to play in the league as he has shown in games past. I honestly think he can be a successful starting QB in the NFL. He is an absolute mess right now and I think some time on the pine, another city, etc. would give him some perspective, a chance to catch up, figure things out within his mind. I honestly feel that his development in this league has been his undoing. Sanchez is clearly not as bad as he is playing - a hard thing to swallow for anti-fans of Sanchez. People want their hate of him to be validated, and those people are getting their fill. If he needs to leave to another team, so be it. We go on with the NYJ franchise as always. If he becomes a 2nd string QB, so be it. Let's move on please.

A question pertinent to the bolded: BASED ON WHAT? Your hopes? Your dreams? Your fantasies? Why isn't Sanchez as bad as HE plays? Over the duration of his short, but highly disappointing career, Sanchez has consistently been at or near the bottom of the league in completion percentage and quarterback rating ,and furthermore, has shown an irrefutable knack for committing momentum-killing, game-changing, turnovers. Overall, he has performed on a statistically insufficient level. Once more, he has played like one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league . . . so why, exactly, would people be wrong for saying so????? And why would people be wrong for suggesting that HE FUCKING SUCKS . . . Just as his play indicates??????????????
It's funny how quickly people forget of performances. I don't have any hopes for Sanchez other than he succeed as a QB for the NYJ's. His monumental downward spiral of ability leads to me to believe there are more to his struggles than himself. Not because of anything having to with him, but because he was a 1st round draft pick who is getting paid, and at points in his first two years was performing. It would be nice to see him work out. It's not an accident that he has the most turnovers in football over the last two seasons (you know, the seasons where we actually gave him some reponsibility instead of trying to make him invisible). It's not an accident that he ranks at the bottom of the league for four years in every possible way you can measure and rate quarterback play. It's not an accident that he's lost 10 of his last 14 starts and was on his way to #11 today. Wishing he was a better QB won't make him a better QB. He is who he is. And he's a REALLY bad quarterback.
