Me to, It would be a huge mistake to fire him now, If next season is a joke and we end up flopping like this then you can start to call for his head but the way I look at it is like this, Two great memorable years then Two horrible years(unless we go on a magical run) Next year he will have to show up big time and bring us back to where we were in 2010 . I think we go back to the AFC championship game next season I really do

Not sure about firing Ryan but it seems pretty unanimous most want Tanny gone. Problem is if a new GM comes in he's going to want to bring in his guys, Rex, Sparano, and by proxy Sanchez all gone, can't have one without the other.

Other than the rantings of blind homerism what would ever make you think that?

That is often said, but not true. While you usually see that kind of turnover with a new GM, it's absolutely possible to go without it - especially if the new GM believes personnel is the major issue.

You will be hard pressed to find an example where a new GM came in and didn't bring in his own people within a couple years. If Tanny goes Rex is probably gone, or at least on borrowed time. A new GM doesn't want to be hamstrung with some other regimes garbage, he wants a fresh start.

The thing is, is that the coaching seems to be a big part of our sucking too. At least player development...

    I'll put it this way:

    1) I thik Rex is a great coach and a very good football mind.

    2) I think he needs someone above him (be it a HC or a GM) with balls of steel and wit ha personality that can balance him.

Unfortunately in NY his superior (in this case Tanny) is neither... so a guy like Rex is set to fail. It sucks but that's the way it is (it sucks becuase it's a waste of a football mind).

I was talking about immediately, not within a couple of years.

That may be true, just pointing out that coaches aren't always immediately replaced with a new GM. Maybe it's the norm, but it's not like you can't have one change without the other.

I've thought about this a lot and realized that I don't think any available coaches would be a significant enough upgrade over Rex Ryan. Norv Turner sucks, Mangini sucks, I don't think we could get Cowher/Gruden/Payton.

Revis and Holmes will be back along with whoever we draft and sign in free agency. And If Rex n Tanny both keep there jobs they will know this has to be the year or they are done for sure,Especially with Metlife hosting the Superbowl it will be a do or die year,Who could have predicted the 09 season or even the 2010 season for that matter, Next seasons team will look alot like the 2010 team, We are gonna make alot of midlevel signings but good midlevel signings alot of 1 and 2 year deals with players

What do you mean next year has to be the year? The year for what?

And how does this year's team look different than the 2010 team? The personnel on defense should be better. We have similar receivers, just less experience. Are you saying they should reassemble the type of team Mangini left? If you're saying they'll play like the 2010 team, what are you basing that on?

So let me ask you a question then. Is it your opinion that the Jets roster as currently constituted is an un-coach-able mess?

Because I haven't seen the Jets win a single game since last October that they were not the favorite in. That's more than a year now since the Jets beat a more talented team than themselves. That was the Chargers, BTW, last October 23rd.

Since that game the Jets are 8-12 with the wins coming against Bills x3, Redskins, Chiefs, Dolphins, Colts and Rams. Against teams that do not play in western New York the Jets are 5-12 since the end of October 2011.

I get that there aren't great choices out there at this point but really Rex Ryan has been no better a head coach lately than Mark Sanchez has been at QB. Can we really go into next season with the two of them and not have it turn into an ongoing disaster?

As long as Rex sticks with Sanchez, he should be fired. Just because he love Mark's feet, that isn't reson enough to keep him as starter.

Your posts are nauseating! Who is he going to put in there? Who does he have that is better? McElroy? The punt protector? (sorry, I actually feel bad for Tebow) He has no choice. Do you think Rex drafted Sanchez?
