Does this really shock anyone? Of all the local beat writers, this guy is by far the most spiteful, condescending and sarcastic asshole of the bunch. He takes cheap shot after cheap shot at the organization he's fortunate enough to cover. It's as if be takes pleasure in ripping the Jets, which when warranted, would be ok, but Cimini takes liberties when it's completely unnecessary.

I've never had respect for this tool, but this just shows what a wiesel this douche really is. Love that his true colors are exposed for all to see! Really hope there are repercussions for his actions.

I should add that I would normally never care about stuff like this, but being that its Cimini, I want to see this tool suffer from his actions!

Anything new come out about this? Like most, I wouldn't ordinarily care, but I would love to see Cimini go down for being the douchebag he is.

It's an interesting accusation. I would hope that the people making it have fully researched their potential liability in making the charge. Having circumstantial evidence that something has occurred seems very strong in the court of public opinion but is often not worth much in a court of law.

Since I don't follow twitter, being quite enough of a twit without it, I have no idea if the accusations are likely to be accurate or not but I'd be really careful about pressing the case without concrete evidence.

Excellent news. The sad thing is that between all the Jets hate and Syracuse love, he occasionally managed to write some good articles.

Every Jets player that he's tweeted about should be retweeting this and giving both barrels back.

That account of things reads like somebody has attempted simultaneously to screw around with Jake Steinberg and Rich Cimini.

If I wanted to frame somebody in that way I assume that it would be easy to follow somebody's twitter and then copy and paste one of their tweets very quickly after they'd sent it.

What makes less sense is why a person would tweet something and then immediately tweet the same thing under a different account. The interval is described as a minute. What would prompt Rich Cimini to re-tweet the info on his account even assuming that he'd accidentally tweeted it under the fake account previously?

Something just seems very off here and since it's the internet that we're talking about, doubly so.

nothing sounds fishy about it at all...

dude was signed in on fake twitter account at work, forgot, tweeted real article, saw it was fake, and fixed the mistake... that sort of stuff happens all the time with fake posters, so its not surprising that the person slipped up.

funny that it turned out to be cimini. what a dick. just furthers my assumption that the man has zero integrity.

Yeah, but why would he have been tweeting from the fake account at work?

That's the kind of thing that gets you fired.

I'd assume that any dicking around that somebody did that was ultimately trace-able, as twitter is, would be from a venue that would not put the person at risk just by having occurred, before anything else was taken into account.

Does anybody have the timestamps on the tweets to the second?

Because the timestamps on the two listed are both 11:43 on 16 Nov 12.

The reason this is important is that if the Cimini tweet came before the Fake Steiny tweet then the odds are that Fake Steiny is the person who reported the double tweet.

He'd be the only person likely to have been able to get a Cimini tweet and copy and paste it and then delete the fake tweet before anybody else could track the exact interval and order of the two tweets.

In most mobile formats (where a lot of the traffic comes from) it's extremely easy to not realize which account you're logged into. It's not obvious by any means, it would be really easy to overlook.

It makes perfect sense to anyone who has used Twitter.

Anybody have a list of Fake Steiny's tweets on Nov 16th?

Cimini tweeted at 9:09AM and then against at 9:43. So for him to have tweeted from another account he would either have had to have a second device signed into that account or he would have had to make the decision to sign out of the Cimini account and into the Fake Steiny account in order to do something in the interval. Then he would have had to use the wrong device for the 9:43 tweet or forgot to sign back in to the Cimini account.

The interval is only 34 minutes and he very possibly was onsite the entire time since he is reporting stuff that is occurring in practice that day.

It just seems really funny that he'd make a tweet as Cimini and then just over a half over later make a tweet from the fake account. It'd be kind of a mind-numbing error on his part.

Unfortunately the Fake Steiny account is suspended at the moment so I couldn't look to see if there were any Fake Steiny tweets between 9:09 and 9:43 that day. If none exist then the odds that Cimini would have signed out of his own account and into the other one seem very low.

There is no doubt that br4dw4y is Cimini or an associate. Just stop the nonsense. Cimini is completely guilty. Just blatantly obvious.
