He was good only for that wide 9 package, but the games I've seen this season he's regressed a lot. That said, Rex could mold him into something I'm sure

He's not your practice squad player. He has a 1/3 of the sacks our D has. So why don't you find another thread to make your useless comments in

This. No need signing him at this point, where basically dead.

Babin would be a good guy to have around for a 4-3 sub package, but he would cost way too much for a part-time role. Some team that can use him in a more full-time capacity will sign this beast before his value goes down enough to where it would be worth it for the Jets to give him a call.

Are you kidding? This is a no-brainer.

We have absolutely no pass rush on this team. We need a guy with veteran talent who is a pro bowl DE. We need to make this happen. If our offense can't score, our defense needs to. Adding a legitimate pass rush can help cause turn overs

To start the season I would have loved it but Id rather save the salary for next year. We don't really need a DE but if he wants to play OLB and just rush the passer somewhat cheap next year Id be for it.

The Jets should sign a guy like Babin in the off-season (at a reasonable price) and switch to 4-3 next year anyway.

Thomas, Pace and Scott will all be gone.

DE Coples, DT Wilkerson, DT Ellis, DE Babin

OLB Davis, ILB Harris, OLB in draft

NFL Waiver Wire Order 2012: Teams That Have 1st Shot at Jason Babin

BY TIM KEENEY (FEATURED COLUMNIST) ON NOVEMBER 27, 2012
Let the race for Jason Babin begin.

In a bit of a shocking development, the struggling—understatement of all the understatements ever—Philadelphia Eagles
decided to release the veteran defensive end on Tuesday.

One team's trash is about to be another's gold.

In what has so far been a disappointing year, Babin has recorded "only" 5.5 sacks. But in 2010, he recorded 12.5, and in a reunion with the Eagles last year,
he was absolutely unstoppable, racking up 18.5 quarterback takedowns. That number was not only third in the NFL, but 18th-most for a single season ever.

Over his nine-year career, Babin has 53.5 sacks and nine forced fumbles.

So, even though he's 32, you can bet teams will be bending over backwards to claim him off waivers.

NFL.com's Albert Breer has the official order:

    Albert Breer

    @AlbertBreer
    RT @RLiuNFL Current NFL claiming priority: 1. KC, 2. JAX, 3. PHI, 4. OAK, 5. CLE, 6. CAR, 7. SD, 8. BUF, 9. TEN, 10. DET, 11. AZ, 12. NYJ

The Kansas City Chiefs, who rank 27th in the NFL with just 19 sacks on the season, could certainly use an additional weapon in the
pass rush behind Justin Houston and Tamba Hali. But they generally play a 3-4 defense, while Babin is more of a 4-3 defensive end.

Don't be surprised if he slips to No. 2, where the Jaguars will almost certainly pounce.

Jacksonville not only ranks last in the NFL with 13 sacks and last with a 3.0 sack percentage, but it also plays a 4-3 defense.
Babin would be a welcomed addition to a team that currently has no one with more than 2.0 sacks.

Still, though, Babin is 32, and the Jags are in rebuild mode. They could easily decide he doesn't fit their future plans.
Should that happen, the Raiders, who also boast almost no pass rush, would likely have a strong interest.
If Babin slips by Oakland, then it's anyone's guess who will take a chance on him.

    The Jets can't afford him.

Doesn't matter as far as this season goes and he fits in a 4-3 scheme much better but if he was available through waivers he would be worth a look as a 3-4 rush linebacker. Could be someone who could potentially help us next year assuming he can find his pass rushing ability again, cause we all know the Jets need more guys who can sack the QB.

hell yea he is worth it he has 5.5 sacks more then anyone on our roster and it's not even close,Babin had 18 sacks last season , sign this beast but we won't because "This is the best team Rex Ryan has ever seen" And we only sign players like Tebow who the media talks about and produce nothing on the field

Babin is a pass rusher. So probably not? We don't need a pass rusher.
