awesome but despite taking over a program 1 year removed from a national Championship he couldn't get UCLA to a single FF and only reached 1 elite 8. w/in 3 years Ben Howland had UCLA in the FF. Lavin took over an all time great program a year removed from a nat'l title and never made a FF, jay took over a mid of the pack program and led them to a FF.
My man Lavin has done a great job...Sucked that he had cancer and was out for a while...But Moe Harkless is a pro and legit. That will only help SJU
The reason this team is in such disarray right now is the Wayns-Cheek-Armwood-Yarou class. That group was as highly touted as any and all four have been or were major major disappointments.
One really bad class can hurt a program for years. It happend to SU the year after they won the 2003 National Championship. Roberts, Nichols, Wallace, and Mccrosky were a huge bust for us. I think we missed two NCAA Tourney's because they never worked out.
I heard that UNC is refusing to move anyplace without Duke... it's pretty stupid but if true you have to admire that rivalries and history are still important to some schools and people. I wonder what plan B is for the Big 10? Virginia and GTech?
Carolina and duke despise each other but they respect each other too. I'm sure they want to stick together, at some point it may not be possible but we'll see. It's ACC/Big 10 challenge time, the ACC dominated this event until a few years ago as the tide has turned. Of course the retooling Heels get the #1 team in the Country on the road tonight. I hope it's not a 15-20 pt loss.
What a disappointment. I was looking forward to beating up on Duke and UNC for years to come. Now if they bounce the ACC is pathetic for BBall.
and the good news continues as PJ Hairston was hurt in practice the other day and will not play at Indiana.
The story this AM is that Louisville expected to be voted by ACC to enter, replacing Maryland. If another team leaves, they will probably try to add UCONN which would be fine with me.
well that was a fun game, I knew it was an almost impossible spot for the young Heels. It was a good game for about 17 minutes or so but Indiana is too good for the Heels right now. I like this Heels team, I think they will get better and be a top 10-15 type of team later n the year but right now they are young and learning.
I only saw the first half or a big portion of it anyway, UNC looked pretty good it's just that Indiana looks very very good right now. They seem to have all the tools. I was impressed with their D which I thought was suspect. Big game coming up for SU at Arkansas. I would say this would be a layup if it was at the dome but at Arkansas is a tough place to play.
Glad to hear the ACC picked L-Ville, They can get UCONN whenever they want. This game of Musical Chairs is getting closer to being over and UCONN looks like the fat, sticky fingered, red headed child that no one wants to give a seat to.
