A lot of things are going to happen because of this. Rutgers is also going to go to the B10. Then the ACC is going to be looking for teams, I've heard UCONN, or even St. John's and Georgetown to the ACC.

Not sure this is the best the big ten could do. Maryland is a nice school but by no means a must have for a conference. I think this just opens up a spot for Uconn in the ACC. Who else would they replace them with?

IMO, this move spells the end for the Big East.

I hope they keep MD to their $50 mil buyout.

Are the Terms that great of loss being a founding member?

I guess louisville since they have a better football program and it's all about football these days, plus who knows how well UConn does in the post Calhoun era but I think it may end up being UConn.

I think the end was spelled out with ND killing the potential football TV deal last August. So far Pitt, SU, WVU, and ND have bailed. Rutgers is only a big loss because of what has already walked out the door.

Kind of my thinking as well, on the B-ball side they would get another HOF coach. Which does not hurt.

I think they should switch up the divisions to the Traditional ACC division and the Upstart EX-Big East Division. It would help build excitement and make the divisions become rivals.

rodney clarke just hit a 30 foot one handed heave off balance at the buzzer and Butler beats Marquette 72-71 (maui). It came after Marquette missed a free throw with 8 seconds left.

What are the Catholic schools going to do? Are they finally going to break away? I can't imagine Georgetown and Seton Hall want to play games @ SMU or Houston. Losing Rutgers doesn't hurt so much in basketball but losing Uconn, Cuse, Notre Dame, WVU and potentially Louisville is a killer.

BTW I think the next move will be Florida State to the Big 12 and Louisville will slide into the ACC with Uconn all but leaving the Big East with the Catholic schools for basketball and a bunch of rejects like UCF, Memphis, and San Diego State to play a school like Houston, Navy or Temple.

Chaminade's home court came through tonight, as they upset Texas, 86-73

    I like that idea.

The Heels just humiliated Miss Stae, I know MSU stinks but man the Heels played well. They face Butler tonight, hopefully they can continue to play lie they did yesterday. They are young, there will be ups and downs but I like what I have seen so far.

I think the BE is finished. The corpse just refuses to admitt it yet. SDSU and Boise State are already meeting with the MWC to have an out.

    Sources: Schools may rejoin MWC

Boise State, San Diego State and BYU have had conversations with Mountain West membership about the possibility of returning to the league, sources told ESPN.

The talks originated after last week's decision in Denver by the BCS commissioners to award an automatic access bowl berth to the highest-rated champion to the "Group of Five" conferences. That decision in essence put the Mountain West on equal footing, as far as playoff access is concerned, with the Big East starting in 2014.

The "Group of Five" includes the Mountain West, Big East, Conference USA, Mid-American and Sun Belt conferences.

Saw some report that said BC and VA Tech could be joining the B10.

I would LOVE to get rid of BC, that was the worst decision the ACC ever made. Losing Va Tech for FB would hurt.

My guess is UConn replaces Maryland. Florida St, Clemson, Georgia Tech & Va Tech/UVA go to the Big 12. UNC/NC St & Louisvile go Big 10.

And a pretty typically reliable and "plugged-in" guy on my Duke board is saying B10 reached out to UNC and Texas are they are both "responding positively" to it.

I can't find any links on any of these rumors, though.

I have heard some rumblings about the Heels, I hope not. As much as I hate duke it would be awful for CBB if the teams didn't share a conference.

Agreed. And UNC leaving would probably precipitate FSU and Clemson defections to the SEC or B12 and effectively destroy the ACC. In that scenario I'd want Duke dropping football to 1-AA and trying to partner with the Catholic school and any other major conference rejects to create a mega-bball conference.

If those schools did leave as discussed above, then the best move would be just join the ACC and BE together. They would have a secondary football conference, would still be one of the best basketball conferences in the country.
