(Mods- sorry for misspelling his name in title.)

It's 5am here and I'm typing on my phone so I can't track down all of the stats but WTF has happened to Westhoff's ST this year?

Muffed punts by Kerley and Wilson.
    Two blocked FGs
    2 Blocked punts
    KR in NE.
Successful onsides kick by the Fins.
A KR yesterday called back on a ticky tack penalty.

Please add to the list below.

Overall ST have been shockingly bad and yesterday between the failed FP, KR called back, the blocked FG or/and Kyle Wilson's muff we're lucky it was a one sided game and none of those things mattered in the end.

Thanks for your years of service Mike. Here's a Jets pin and a nice crystal paperweight. Have a piece of pie at the retirement party and then clean out your desk.

This....I still think Westoff is one of the greatest minds at ST coaching position. He will be missed...

Is that all it is though? He's always had to deal with the ever changing scrap pile of left over players. I doubt there's a huge difference in quality between scraps. I wonder if he hasn't lost some edge. Great coach but the special teams have been pretty miserable lately.

Westhoff given this team a lot of good years & went through a crap ton of personal drama. Perhaps he's just ready to move on? Nothing left for him to accomplish as a ST coach & he's too old to get offered another coaching gig.

Specials have been bad this year but Westhoff is still the man and we produced points and turnovers off of specials as well. Lots of fake punts for first downs, Kerleys Punt Return TD, Mcknights KO return TD. We need Westhoff

I don't blame Tebow for anything that's gone wrong for the Jets this season but don't you guys think that having 11 regular defensive players on the field during punts has an effect?

I mean the punt return team for most teams is a bunch of well-trained scrubs with a few regulars. This is because the injury factor is high on special teams and you need to give your regular players a breather now and then.

Tebow's presence has meant that good defenders remain on the field during those downs. The Jets are out-classed in terms of talent level by a lot when that happens.

Unlikely that Westhoff lost a step.

he's having a bad year but he's a great STs coach. Maybe this makes him want to come back for one more year? I hope so.

Wow you guys turn on people insanely fast. Admittedly special teams has some big issues lately, but to dump Westhoff right away is lunacy.

of all the people you just cant say sucks, westhoff is the one.

specials have been terrible but i doubt it is from lack of effort on his part. he has always dealt with scraps and a few guys who really liked to kill people. maybe those scraps and more specifically those regular players he uses dont care to kill people like teams past.

This is where we are at now? Complaining about arguably best specials teams coah ever? Few errors this year, but this is a joke. The only thing consistant about the jets over the past 12 years is we usually have best special teams in football. How many guys has westhoff put in the pro bowl? I'm all in for complaining about allot of shit. Westhoff isn't one of them

Oh please this isn't Westhoffs fault it's Tannenbaums. He doesn't have the horses on ST. No Brad Smith, No Ihedigbo and others of his ilk. No Jimmy Leonhard catching every punt in swirling winds

he can't make chicken soup out of chicken shit
