Id rather take a guy who has a chip on his shoulder and good work ethics. McKnight is overrated, i think he believes hes great too. How does a guy come in overweight when you finally have your dream job, oh i know he doesnt give a crap. I hate the pats but thats one thing I love about bellicheat, he plays guys who deserves it not cause where they are drafted. I think thats a big reason why rex wont bench sanchez, cause he drafted him and cause of that ridiculous contract. isnt sanchez the 7th highest paid qb, how is that even possible. rex doesnt want to look stupid, how many teams would have benched sanchez by his play already.
I can't believe i'm even reading this garbage. Really, danny f'n woodhead, that's what we're trying to slander rex with now a days. danny woodhead? did he somehow become jim brown on the pats? I won't even get into the brady vs sanchez differences. if you can't figure it out, you're a fucking moron. this article is garbage.
Sure. And I specifically remember, at the time Ryan saying that they were sorry to have to let him go but it was roster size thing. Which happens all the time. I'm just saying he's improved and become a player that Brady can trust to make a play. Like Welker, Like Gronkowski, not like Ocho Stinko. He's gotten better then the scrub player people remember from the Jets. And yes he's always going to be fighting for a spot on the roster.
Woodhead didn't fit with our offense then and he certainly doesn't fit in our offense now, Woodhead isn't even close to a Darren Sproles type of weapon. A scrappy undersized RB without much explosion isn't much of a weapon period. When he gets forgotten within the Brady shadow he can get to the point of an annoying gnat but that's about it. And to those comparing Woodhead to Chrebet, it is apples to oranges. Chrebet was basically our Wes Welker, that type of player always has a position on the team and depending on how you use him he could make a huge impact.
The difference is that BB knows how to evaluate talent. He looks for winners with winning attitudes first-- football skills can be taught, but the intangibles can't. Heck, he'll change entire schemes to accommodate the skills of his players. You think it's a joke that he's interested in Tebow?
And how quickly were they gone? BB is unsentimental too, so when he makes a mistake he moves on. We could only hope for Rex to be that decisive.
Were they gone quicker than Derrick Mason? Anyone else want to post a myth about Rex? It seems to be the theme.
Woodhead could have been productive with the Jets, but never to the extent he is with the Pats, for many reasons being mentioned here. That being said, he could've been kept as you suggest, but I think he would've been cut by now in the revolving door we've seen recently, especially this year.
Woodhead is better than Jets RB last season & this season. Ryan made a mistake on that move but he's also done the opposite defensively. He's made Trufant a decent defensive player & managed to get this secondary to play well without Revis. Actually managed to get production out of Maybin last season also. The big problem when it comes to talent on this roster is Tanny.
Like Devin McCourty, Arrington, Brandon Merriweather, and that whole secondary whose best player is someone they traded for midseason?
Basically this in a nutshell. And yea like cutting Danny Woodhead is really our biggest concern and why this team is so damn bad right now :/
The part about Coples being underwhelming is where the article actually loses me. He hasn't been underwhelming, he simply hasn't been getting reps for whatever reason. They're still hung up on his not knowing the plays or whatever but every time he gets in there he makes plays. I do agree that Woodhead wouldn't have been as good here, but not because they have Brady and we don't. Because of Billy Boy, and his ability to put players in the best position to make plays. And I'm not going to kill Rex for a couple of talent mistakes (Connor being another) when Tanny's made like fifty and he's the GM after all.
General manager Mike Tannenbaum is losing sleep, presumably over the drafting of Vernon Gholston and Vladimir Ducasse and keeping David Clowney over Danny Woodhead and trusting Wayne Hunter and replacing Jerricho Cotchery with Derrick Mason.
Hard to argue against this... I think we can't assess the situation in a vacuum. We also have to see the good picks, FA Aquisitions and weight them out... I mean, he did land Tebow and Favre...wait, that didn't help... ok. He signed Mabin!... oh wait. in seriousness, he isn't that bad. I just think that the fact that he has a bottom line business type owner may hinder some of his moves.
Wonder if Woody might go for a 'name' as GM -- Casserly ? -- who is on record as liking Rex and would concentrate on personnel ?
Is there anybody here who thinks that Ducasse has been on the team the last 2 years solely because he was a #2 and the personnel guys realize cutting a #2 pick that quickly would reflect badly on them ? If he was a #5 round pick or a FA....is he on the team this year ? 2011 ? Even 2010 ?
so the only criteria for making a bad decision on a player is whether the player is comparable to a HOFer? dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb. the issue isn't whether Woodhead was Jim Brown, it is whether he is better than McKnight and could have helped the team more than McKnight has. if you can't figure it out, you're a fucking moron.
Drop dead. Of course he could help the team. We couldn't afford to carry all those RB's at the same time and w/ black mcknight being a 4th rounder and making big plays on special teams, the wishful thinking was he was going to be the home run threat (which DW isn't - not to mention his blocking was horrid atm). DW might have been a solid rb on his downs, but he wasn't going to replace any of the guys in front of him. He was cuttable! You're a douche if you think otherwise. Go fucking cry about Joel Dreesen or Chansi Stuckey next, douche.
