The wind helped alot. They will not go 1 for 18 from 3 indoors. They have 4 really good players and 2 other guys that can play. They have really fast hands and cause alot of turnovers. They got hurt by our size and our slashing, Trish and MCW either made it or we got good follow-ups.

From what I saw of Birtch he needs to mature and learn to work hard. So he may be a year away from being the guy you want him to be. Maybe leaving Pitt will straiten him out but you never know.

UNLV steamrolled NAU, Reinhardt and Bennett combined for 42 in their Rebel debut , Goodman added 12 and Jones added 10. Combined those 4 alone outscored NAU by 12. UNLV 92-54 over NAU.

SJU beats Detroit in their first game of the season. Freshman Chris Obekpa had 7 points, 8 blocks, 11 rebounds. The guy is going to be a huge shot blocker.

I watched a little, McCallum for Detroit is a baller but I was very impressed with the defensive play of Obekpa.

Watched a lot of college basketball today.

Butler and West Virginia were horrible. Wow.

Thats actually a pretty good win of SJU. Detroit is not a pushover right now. They have been getting better for a few years.

Yeah they lost to them last year, so it was a nice way to start the season.

SJU now goes to play the Charleston Classic in South Carolina. They open up with the College of Charleston tomorrow. Some other teams in the tourney are Baylor, Murray State, and Colorado, so SJU will be able to play some good teams assuming they beat CC.

I realize that Purdue is not Kentucky, but Villanova just scored its most significant victory in over a season.

It is a decent field, I love that Tourney. 3 straight games leading up to Thanksgiving. Back in Nov '95 'Nova beat the Heels for the Maui title.

I'm pretty sure that was 1996. Our first of TWO victories over UNC that year, btw ;)

November of '95 so '95-'96 season. I remember both losses, the Maui one was a close one and the one at the Spectrum was a beating. 'Nova was supposed to bea title contender that year and the Heels were entering the season having lost Rasheed Walalce and Jerry Stackhouse after their sophomore years. The Maui showing was a pleasant surprise, the one in Philly was not.

Rick Majerus will not coach Saint Louis again. He was already not coaching this season but now it sounds like he's retiring due to health concerns.

He coached until 64 and coached for 41 years (29 years as head coach). Impressive considering his physique.

Nice win for the heels at LB State the other night. IT's not the same LB State team as last year but still a difficult place to play and they played really well in the 2nd half. They open up in Maui this evening.
