Honestly, I think Woody is a good owner. Some of his quotes may be ill-timed, but I don't think he will tolerate how this season started.

It seems like he will give Rex one more season and Tanny will get the boot. Tanny has done a lot more damage to our organization than Rex Ryan.

“He is our franchise quarterback,” Johnson added. “I don’t view him that way… That’s what he is.”

Read between the lines on that remark...doesn't look too good for Sanchez.

Two different ways to read that. He could be emphasizing that Sanchez IS the franchise QB based on ability, not simply because Woody says he is.

    That make sense ?

Actually I'm going the other way on this one. The Jets have to pay Mark Sanchez 8.25 million next year. They're not going to pay him that to back up anybody who is not clearly better than he is and probably by a significant margin.

I think what Woody did with that comment was to do everything he could to put to rest the emerging QB controversy that threatens at the moment. He can't say it any clearer: "He is our franchise quarterback. I don't view him that way... That's what he is."

BTW, that the owner had to give a press conference right now in the middle of the season to attempt to resolve a growing controversy probably signals storm warnings ahead. I think if the Jets don't 6-1 this the rest of the season there are going to be heads rolling all over the place. I think if they 6-1 it and miss the playoffs somebody is getting lopped anyway.

Woody is a good owner. You guys are just awful fans. You'd think we're rooting for the Browns or Raiders the way you idiots are acting. We're having a down year, that's that.

If it were up to this fan base we'd be the fucking Marlins of the NFL. Blowing everything up after a down year. It's stupidity at it's finest.

I still maintain that this fan base is composed of losers and casuals.

This is about the only thing you've said I agree with. But I agree with it, only because the biggest problem with the team is Woody and him putting his nose into football decisions.

Thank you. You're the only guy who seems to acknowledge this fact.

So now, it's acceptable to be mediocre as long as we're not the Browns, Raiders or Marlins?

My expectations are to be much better than that. Making playoff appearances is great, but I want an organization that builds a real winner. I don't want an owner who's more interested in headlines and tee-shirt sales.

no it's not, I think we are 5th or 6th in playoff apps/wins in the AFC. We've been very good under his ownership. It's not his fault NE got lucky w/ Brayd and built a dynasty around him.

He WAS good. Obviously he decided to put his hands in the cookie jar when he shouldn't have. The question is why? He knows nothing about football. If it's not broke, don't fix it. He and Tanny should share a lot of this blame. More-so Tanny for not keeping depth in order. Woody should not be involved in any football decisions. Just sign the fucking checks.

oh he WAS good, b/c we had 2 bad/mediocre years now he sucks. so when the Giants missed 2 postseasons in '09 & '10 that meant the Giants owners sucked? teams have down years, it happens. watch what happens to NE when they lose Brady in the coming years, Bob Kraft is a great owner but he won't look quite as smart.

The Jets have seesawed from good to poor repeatedly over the last decade. They've spent a lot of time at average along the way. Given the franchise history no extended period has been better for them since the late 60's,

I'd give Woody a B/B- as an owner at this point. He's gotten a few A's (2004, 2010) and a few F's (2005, 2007) along the way to that grade but enough of the years have been B+ (2002, 2006, 2009) to keep the average up even with the failures now and then.

The Giants ownership doesn't make decisions based on getting headlines, so it's VERY different.

That is usually what kills a lot of teams. Jerry Jones is famous for that in Dallas, and some say that is one of their major problems.

Al Davis was legendary in that, and many pointed to him being the #1 reason the raiders were one of the worst teams over the last decade.

The Redskins owner was just some rich dude that originally thought he could just spend on the biggest names possible and ran it like a fantasy football team. What he ended up with was a bad chemistry experiment and ended up blowing up his own kitchen. Seems to have backed off a bit though.

Owners sometimes need to bring in the football people and then get the hell out of the way. PR moves almost never translate well on the field.

I think that is speculation and the Tim Tebow move isn't why we are 3-6.
