I wouldn't bet too much on it - I can see us having a very poor year both this year and next.

But even now, we already have too many wins to land the new elite QB in the draft.

There seems to be two ways to win:

Finish last or close to last for a season or two or 3 and grab as much top top top talent as possible (Andrew Luck, RGIII, etc).

Or, finish in the top 1/3 every year, never having the chance to grab ANY top top top talent in the draft, and build a solid team at every position. And along the way maybe even grab a diamond in the rough. Think the Steelers, always finishing in the top 1/3, and having a solid team all the way around. No super super super stars, but no steaming piles of shit either.

You can build a contender with a hand full of superstars drafted at the top, or you can build a solid team from one end to the other. We're in this group.

Fact is we need a pure passing QB and we need to develop him and build around him

Zac Dysert is his name and throwing nice accurate quick passes is his game

The Steelers are built around a QB taken on the 11 pick in the deepest QB draft in decades. Everything else is important but the Steelers are just a 9 to 12 win team without Big Ben. With him they are a 2 time champion now.

any awnser other then "replace the QB" is irrelevant at this point as we are no more then pretenders otherwise.

at the very least we need an average qb who can complete 60% of his passes and not be a turnover machine. if it that is something liek prying matt flynn from seattle or something of that nature.

Here's the problem, how do we replace the QB. Replacing the QB and going 10-6 sounds nice, but who do we replace him with that can do that? Who do we draft when there are no good draftable QBs?

It looks like we are stuck with Sanchez unless we trade draft picks for a backup/starter somewhere. I would rather keep those picks instead of trading away since there is 99% we aren't going to trade for a QB who suddenly turns elite.

We need to stockpile draft picks, build the surrounding team, and we may have to wait 2 years to draft a viable starting QB. Maybe we get lucky next draft, but in the meantime, we build the team up so it isn't in shamble when the drafted QB comes to town

While I hope the season turns around, this season is done to me, laid a rotten egg today.

On that list I'm pretty this is what will happen.

    Pace - gone
    Scott - gone too old
Sanchez - we're stuck with him
    Moore - gone
Wilson - we'll sign for cheap
    Keller - resign
    Eric Smith - gone
Devito - might come back for vet min
    Landry - resign
Greene - resign to be a #2 back
Slauson - resign for short term otherwise gone
    Bell - gone
    Maybin - gone
    Malone - resign

And Tebow needs to go, too much of a damn distraction with the complete lack of talent that he possesses

FA moves - sign an OLB and potentially a WR/RB
Draft priority: OLB, OG, OT, RB/WR (whatever we don't sign), FS, TE

Our talent is weak and until that is fixed there is no point even looking at the coaching staff, but Tanny has to make this offseason count or he can pack his bags as well.

Maybe not this offseason, but next offseason we may have to go all-in to get a quality QB and trade away a king's ransom for a premier QB in the draft

There is no premier QB in the draft next season.

Without a sure thing that one can depend upon all year I don't think its feasible to depend upon a draft pick to run your team. The priority IMO should be to sign a veteran QB that can beat out Sanchez and play reasonably well for a year or two while at the same time looking to draft a young QB they can develop. If that guy is not there in 2013 they should wait until 14.

I don't mean the offseason coming up, I mean the year after that

Maybe a guy like Mariota or someone else can improve enough in 2 years that they can be worth leading this team

I really hope there's a franchise QB in the draft in 2014. We should get enough picks out of the Revis trade to make trading up for the franchise feasible.

there insn't the kind of talent at QB in this years draft that makes me want us to lose the rest of the way. It's not like last years draft

Why can't we cut Sanchez, trade for Matt Flynn (as a stopgap at least), and draft a QB?

Tanny doesn't deserve another season, This was his last chance in my eye. He is done, and Wilson isn't a free agent we don't need to resign him he is under contract

Massive cap hell and no QB in this draft worthy of being a franchise QB
