Another awful move. Let's cut a promising young safety and possibly lose him on the FA market to New England or Miami, two rivals in need of safety help, for a scrub #5 WR with inconsistent hands. So much for Jordan White being worth a lick if Jason Hill is the choice over you, TWICE. Oh, and let's carry FIVE guards on the 53 man roster, too. Why the hell not. I hate this organization. They have no idea what the hell they're doing.
Not really, but this team needs to start making moves for next season and beyond...... not stop gap band-aids like jason hill
Even though you've given up on the season the Jets and some fans have not. This move probably has more to do with special teams than all the things you talk about. That's usually the difference maker for bottom of the roster type players. The Jets upgraded both their special teams and big nickel package w/this move. They're trying to win this week.
LTJF, You're probably right...but The wheels are in motion... Now they can blame the blocked punt on the Lineman and not Timmy TBags... Just so awesome! (Obvious kid not so obvious) I happen to agree w/the consensus about it being a bad move.... There is no upside to this.
[Rookie that showed a little something] < [established JAG who has already shown his low ceiling] So frustrating following this team sometimes.
 at people being angry about moving our bottom of the roster depth players around. This happens every week and people still act surprised and shocked as if they know more about football than the Jets front office. What a joke. Fans like that shouldn't even watch football. Sorry. Allen has not yet gotten there. Smith is very familiar with our system.
How can you say there is no upside to improving this weeks roster? This is a huge game for the Jets. If they can win this game they have a chance at turning this thing around. I want them going into this battle with the best guys they have to get the job done.
You people are ridiculous. Who the hell is Antonio Allen? Don't let the door hit you... You people act like we just cut RB T. Ganaway...I'm mean OG Griffin... I mean WR J. White.... ex-fuckin-zactly!
Dude they are all STUDS and future pro bowlers. The Jets let them go so they must be!!!! STUPID FRONT OFFICE!
I mean as long as your fine with us cutting half our draft picks, then Im sure we are okay!!! There's a reason why we have absolutely no depth and why the bottom quarter of our roster would find it extremely difficult to make it onto another NFL team's roster. It also shows how incompetent our scouting department is at finding NFL players after the first 3 rounds.
The guy was a fucking 7th round pick. I agree the scouting department sucks dick but do we really need to freak out every time a 7th round pick moves from the active roster to the practice squad? I think trading away picks is a bigger problem than the shitty scouting department. You're not going to hit on every one, you need quantity.
I love your insight to this thread! Just keep it coming! It really adds to the quality of this sight! No one said anyone in the bottom rounds of a draft had to be a pro bowler, but as you can see a major problem with the current team, its used for depth. Ever heard of it? Not many Jets fans have consider it doesn't exist in Tannenbaum world. Also something that doesnt exist in Tannenbaum world- developing from within... (its better if you say it like your a kindergarden teacher talking slowly to her students). Yeah, our organization has no idea what that is either. They would rather take shit from other teams' failed draft picks than try and let our own young draft picks get some time on the field. Oh well... Im sure you are just fine with that though.
Believe me, I know that once you pass the 5th round or so it becomes a crap shoot. Antonio Allen was looked at as a 3rd round player prior to the draft and just fell. I was happy we got him and he's shown enough to earn a spot on the team to develop. I just hate how this organization just throws away young players who could have a future (even if its in sub packages) in order to pick up other teams' shit. As I stated in an above post, they dont know how to evaluate talent from within and give them time to develop. For instance, we picked up Grimes who seemed like a decent pickup... We cut him and then picked up another RB. Personally, I trust the Texans FO and CS that really like Grimes over ours who just cut him and picked up someone else that no ones ever heard of... Obviously this move wont be the death of us and there's a 95% chance it has zero affect on this team... I would just like to see this organization try and develop their own.
Hell, with the open roster spot from A.Allen we could bring in Vernon Gholston to seal the outside right? Someone Txt this to Tanny....he'll be all over it in half a second.
Lax, you follw the draft. you know how many 6th and 7th rounders make teams. You know the very, very few of them ever make an impact. This is not like we are cutting 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round guys out the gate here. These were a bunch of fringe guys that were all taken in the last 50 picks of the draft.
I love this move. We don't really need a 7th round rookie Safety to help defend against a Rookie QB. But we could use another pair of hands that Sanchez has had some experience throwing too, especially against a tough bump and grind secondary. If Hill catches ONE pass for a first down or anything else of significance, he will have helped more than Allen would have from the bench. And yes, this is our do or die game. Win Sunday and we are going to the playoffs. Lose, and it's over.
