Context and tone, meet Greeny. Greeny, please meet context and tone. Of course he still does it - he does everything he's always done which is why he's regressed so badly. The point is he never pumped faked earlier in his career, someone must have told him he should try it sometime because the defense knows where he's going, and now he overdoes it to the point where they know he's faking it.
80%??? Tebow makes us that much better that we, at 3-5 and almost certainly facing 4-7 at best in three weeks, will jump to an 80% chance to make the playoffs? Who exactly are we overtaking for these playoff spots? If you even go near the tiebreaker vs. the Colts I'll scream.
It's two separate arguments at this point. One, is Sanchez deserving of continued starts, and two, how much of an improvement, if any, would Tebow make. The two arguments can completely intertwine with each other, or be mutually exclusive. You seem to be trying to make them both.
THIS! All the way. They have taken a kid who may or may not have been something and completely destroyed him. He sucks, but he didn't always suck. He was once a rookie who made rookie mistakes and had a low ceiling, but could do the job. Now he's just terrible, has no leadership qualities and plays like a rookie all over again.
Oh whatever - for all the talk about Sanchez being a game manager and not being developed properly - Alex Smith now is his ceiling. In other words, another bust of a 1st round pick who's been in the league what, 7-8 years now and sucked forever before becoming simply less inconsistent. He generally sucks, has a few good games here and there and mostly just manages the game for the defense. He's what Sanchez COULD have been. Or still might be. And no one wants to wait 3-4 more years to see THAT as our starting QB.
Dude, do you see what the other guy there (Roberts) is doing? THAT is the result of Fitzgerald's presence. They cover him like a blanket so the #2 guy can go off. If Chaz was 3-45 and Kerley was 5-150 with 2 TDs, then we're talking. But that is not the case. And I know you were being sarcastic, but please don't even joke about Chaz Schilens and Larry Fitzgerald.
Three straight great games, team looks awesome. You might not be correct here. Just sayin'. Probably won't continue, but he's obviously capable. Just sayin' (again).
The only game the Jets have lost this year that was really winnable with a better QB, given all the flaws on the roster, was the Texans game. Sanchez looks terrible but he has lots of company.
You don't think the Pats game was winnable??? Sanchez made too many mistakes in that game. A better Qb and the Jets would have won it.
Anyone know someplace I can find film on Sanchez's passes this season? Something came to my attention yesterday and I need to see how well he spins the ball. Actually it's something I should have remembered from when I played tight end in my school days, a spiral is much easier to catch than a wobbler.
It's been 14 years since Vinny T in 1998 and if you wanna include a couple of Pennington seasons in there, maybe less but still a long time. What's another 8 weeks?
It's understandable that you feel that way ,but this song has been played before many times. McElroy's name was most recently Kellen Clemens. It's been a theme with the Jets for years, and i suspect many other teams that haven't had a franchise QB as well - the backup and/or 3rd stringer who never sees time is the fan's favorite. Fans always want to see what "insert player's name here" can do, regardless of the fact that in the NFL backup QBs (unless highly drafted and learning behind a vet) and third stringers are rarely any good. The bottom line is that it's a 'the grass is greener' situation. As bad as Sanchez is (and he's plenty bad), if McElroy was a better, or even a CLOSE alternative, he'd already have been given a shot. I don't have much faith in the coaching staff at this time, but ANY management team in ANY field will usually do what's best for the team if the first guy is really performing poorly. Sanchez obviously is the best option for the team (barring a Tim Tebow-led gimmick offense) so he stays. Like or dislike, that's the way it is until they find a viable replacement.
Yeah, our offense would very good if everyone could move down a level. Kerley, #2 receiver or slot guy. Greene #2, etc etc etc. But as currently consituted, this is not a good offense. It's a big mess, Sanchez on down.
Coming right up! We should be there by early December, possibly even sooner, and that'll give us a minimum 3-4 games to look at alternatives. Or, more to the point, to confirm that we have nothing but crap at the QB position on the entire roster and need to rebuild.
It's debatable of course. But the simple fact that isn't debatable is that most Tebow fans are basing the love of him on what he did for Denver last year. Leadership, pulling wins out of hats - but what did he ACTUALLY do? The defense and the kicker bailed him out several times or we'd never have this discussion. If you need further proof, see how fast Elway dropped him like a bad habit out in Denver, choosing instead to take a low draft pick and pay a QB who hadn't played in a year, give him $90M and roll the dice that he'd have something left. He won that gamble but just as easily could hvae lost. What we need to take from that example, regardless of the outcome, is that he could not wait to roll the dice to get Tebow out of there. That's all the proof you need.
