Pretty sure that report I posted was BS. Was worth passing along though.

I don't think the typical NFL fan understands that tebow is despised Jacksonville more than he is loved.
its like everywhere else (actually worse), in fact if you go by their online community it really looks bad.

I find it humorous that a shit franchise with the worst starting QB in the league (yes I would take Weeden miles before Gabbert) would rather lose with a guy that throws spirals in shorts than try and bust someone in the mouth and win a few games.

While haters will point out that this shows that Tebow sucks , I will point out that this shows how stubborn some fan bases really are.

Ground zero for Tebow hate in the universe is the Jacksonville Jaguar forums. It makes Gang Green look kind , understanding and benevolent towards Tebow.

A lot probably has to do with the fact that Tebow left cleat marks in their foreheads during his college days as there are a lot of Seminole fans in that fan base.

I wonder how much of that has to do with hard feelings since he chose the bigger platform in New York than heading back near his home town.

Either way, I suspect they'd change their tune if he ended up in Jacksonville when he makes that team relevant again on the national scale. Even if it is more about the side show, Jags fans have very little to look forward to with that team otherwise.

I edited my comment as you posted and my edit had to do with why i think that hate exist there.

No man I was there before the trade. the hate there makes you , phaytal and slap and reverseapachemaster look like hardcore tebow lovers.

its bad bro, really, really, really bad. They hate him as a human being and a football player. It's crazy.

Meh, I might argue for a silent majority. (little Nixon reference there :puke:)

Besides 45k Tebow haters still don't fill that stadium. However I see UGA and UF fill that stadium (plus tarps) once a year.

How can people reconcile the love of football in the area, with the poor attendance?

Its the product, and the 45k jags fans left, don't think he makes the product better. I'd disagree but whichever.

Went back and looked at your edit... and if that is Seminole country, then that makes a lot more sense. You should have seen the Boulder Colorado Buffaloes fans hate toward bronco managment when Mike Shannahan drafted Bradlee Van Pelt with the seventh round pick, who played for Colorado State and a few times beat the Buffaloes even though CSU was supposed to be the inferior program. If most Jacksonville fans are Seminole fans, that pretty much explains it, though most in Denver were convinced it was Gator territory.

As for the gem of a comment quoted above. I love it when people go to the "rather lose than win with Tebow." What makes you think Tebow stands a chance in hell of leading the Jags to a bunch of wins? It isn't that they'd rather lose to stick it to Tebow than win with him. Believe me, if the thought they'd be winning with him, they'd welcome him as the starter with open arms. winning cures all. It is just that few believe he would win though, and THAT is why nobody is in a big hurry to trade their first born and make him their starter.

I do think some reasons Tebow didn't go to Jacksonville

    a. Coaching staff didn't want him.
    b. The Jaguars are a bad team, and if he started they will still suck.
    c. The pressure for him to perform in Jacksonville will be more than in NY. He is from Jacksonville and they expect him to be "amazing" even though he thinks he is just an average starting QB, at least NY fans expect him to suck at QB.

I do think he will be in Jacksonville next year once they ax their GM and end the Blaine Gabbert freak show!

I'm pretty sure Gabbert gets at least another year. He's not a bad quarterback. His receivers love dropping balls, his O-Line is garbage, he doesn't have a single play-maker on O, and he's had zero run support sincd MJD went down.

The whole team is garbage, and his flashes justifies him continuing as the starter next year.

You be surprised when a new regime comes, just like when Elway came, he wanted his own coach and QB, I doubt Gabbert survives. Khan needs to end the Blaine Gabbert/Gene Smith freak show sooner or later.

Where the hell do you get this from? The kid is considered god around here.
Sure there is a group of loyal Jaguar Faithful that want no part of him, but alot of that is simply because they're homers, and think every player they have is better than they are (Gabbert is even worse than Sanchez), but overall the season ticket / media exposure would radically increase if Timmy came to the JAGS......unless he got his chance and shit the bed, tarnishing the Golden Child status that he owns here.
btw, majority of the fan base are Gator fans also...... and watching this shitty JAX-DET game, they've mentioned the Tebow trade rumors several times, but that's not to say they were anything more than that.

I get so sick of the talk of Jacksonville. Who cares if it's his home town? Who cares about the fans? It will come down to football.

Its a quick way to take a poll is all.

I will stand 100% behind that statement, the Tebow Jacksonville love is a myth.

if you want to split hairs its 60%-40%, the 40% might be insanely hardcore but that is another story.

Saying you "stand behind it", doesn't mean much without evidence to back it up – which you've failed to provide.

Calm down buddy. It's just his opinion based on what he's seen on the Jags forum. No need to get hostile about something like that.

Nothing hostile about pointing out that CowboysFan's statement is exactly what you also acknowledge it as being... "just his opinion."

CowboysFan rightly points out errors in logic committed by the anti-Tebow crowd.

Now, I'm asking him to support his opinion with something substantive. Until he does, it's "just his opinion," generalized to an entire region of N. FL, going only by anecdotal evidence he says he's observed on a single message board.

Pretty flimsy, in my opinion. As is his statement that Jax is "Seminole Country." I grew up in FL and attended UF, so I think my opinion is as valid as his, if not more so.
