This is the guy we should have gotten.... Philly fingers start to point at Asomugha As the Eagles try to process their failure to win the kind of game that coach Andy Reid always seems to win, there will be plenty of blame to go around. One guy who will no longer be escaping the accusations is cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. The crown jewel of the 2011 free-agent class, Asomugha surprisingly picked the Eagles over the Jets. At the time, it was viewed that Asomugha was on the same plane as Darrelle Revis. Since then, Asomugha’s play, and in turn his perception, has fallen off sharply. Last year, excuses were made based on the way the Eagles were using him and the other two premier corners, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Asante Samuel. This year, more and more folks are pointing to the belief that Asomugha, who turned 31 this year, no longer is the guy that he used to be. There’s also a theory making its way through league circles (and the locker room) that Asomugha doesn’t care about the game like he used to. Regardless of how he feels about football, he no longer plays like he used to. And at a time when quarterback Mike Vick has become the pin cushion for criticism whenever things go wrong, look for more of the blame to be directed to other key players who aren’t playing to the level that most presumed they would. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/10/29/philly-fingers-start-to-point-at-asomugha/
Actually...Trufant has been making some really good contributions on special teams and played very well against the Pats last week. Your statement is erroneous.
AND CRO IS PLAYING LIKE THE BEST CB IN THE LEAGUE!!! Lol. Fuck you Aso. You screwed over our offseason and now you're the one paying the price. Well, the Eagles are anyway...
Trufant >>> > >> Kyle Wilson The fact that Trufant is a glorified practice squad scrub that the Jets picked up from the Arena League 2, and the UFL, and is out playing a first round draft pick is pretty fucking telling. Someone needs to tell Kyle Wilson that the point of playing CB is to STOP passes from being completed.
Trufant outplays Wilson in the Nickel and that just about sums it up Another bust 1st rd pick as BTB said the draft of Wilson, Ducasse, Edwards ( trade) and Conner ( Trade up) is a HOF bag of shit Jets draft class
Braylon had some pretty good seasons with us. Wilson is an underachiever, not a bust. Ducasse and Conner, ehhh.
Sanchez, Hill, Green,Tebow,Schilens, Cumberland, Ducasse, Wilson suck. Pouha, Pace, Scott, Thomas are on their last legs..Time to say Bye Bye Tannenbaum.
He is absolutely a bust. Kid was a first rounder and is one of the worst corners in the league. It was obvious versus Baltimore in HIS FIRST GAME that he is clueless out there, slow, weak, and has zero instincts for the game. The drafting in the last decade has been a total joke outside of Revis, Mangold, Harris, and Kerley. Even Brick has been nderwhming given his #4 overall status.
Braylon had only 2 seasons with us. Another dopey move by Tannenbaum,........giving up a 3rd & 5th round draft pick to trade for a guy that he kept on the roster for 2 lousy seasons---- what the fuck was that??
well it was pointed out at the time of all the hype that he truly is overrated. He was the man over in Oakland because he got his way (one side of the field drama) and everyone else sucked. I knew when he went to the Egalz he would be exposed as being overrated.
Calling him a bust is a bit reactionary because he is actually quite good in the slot. Of course there's no grey area with Jets fans, so he must be a bust. Certainly a disappointment as a first rounder, though.
I love his taunting when the receiver 50 yards behind him drops a pass. Like, he fucking thinks he had something to do with it.
LOL at Wilson being a bust. Jet fans believe any player selected in the first round should be a pro bowler. It doesn't work that way! Additionally Jet fans believe that no corner is allowed to give up a completion OR have a poor game. Reality is 95% of corners in the NFL give up multiple receptions a game & that it is a hot/cold position. The standard for corners for this organization is downright insane. And it precludes Revis/Cromartie era. I can remember solid players like Marcus Coleman & Otis Smith being called all sorts of names by boneheads on this very site. Somehow it's fashionable to hate on our own & call everyone a bust. Wilson's ceiling always was a #2 corner. Well guess what folks? That's exactly the type of performance he gives you. He's a starting quality corner..but most starting quality corners are inconsistent & get burnt. If you play up to what you project..how can you be a bust?
It's not unrealistic to expect first round CB's to not be liabilities - which KW is. Does that equate to him being a bust? That's certainly debatable. And the guys you mentioned were up-n-down in their play. They made their share of plays and miscues. The fact that K-Dub is halfway through his 3rd season and the single most memorable play he's made was the INT against Buffalo. Sorry, my expectations of first rounds picks is not that they're destined for Pro-Bowls simply because of where they were drafted, but that they have more good plays than bad, that simply is not the case with KW...
It's hard to say whether he's making more good plays than bad though without watching the all-22 and focusing on him since for the most part bad plays are shown in replays while good coverage is largely ignored.
Well that's where we differ. Calling Wilson's weekly performance a "liability" puts ALOT of other corners in this league in that same basket. If he's such a liability why don't teams throw the ball to his side every single play? He's a #2 corner. That's what he was projected to be when he got drafted & that's what he has become.
