So you're saying he played terrible in the Bills / Colts & Pats games? It seems to me our oline gets manhandled every time we play a semi decent defense. It's all about the oline, not Sanchez. He's great when he has protection, it just hasn't really been there.
Wrong again. The problem is the lack of continuity on the offensive side of the ball. Take your "franchise QB" and build an offensive philosophy around him. Not once did they try and accommodate the offense by making the QB the most comfortable person on the field. People that say Sanchez sucks are just casual football fans that can't decipher the true issues, so they blame it on the guy that gets the most camera exposure. Sanchez didn't just hand the football off, obviously the dude has pass completions and TDs, we've had success when the defense wasn't exactly at it's best. Now, Sanchez isn't a good QB, he prob won't ever with the Jets because they already ruined any chance of making him that guy. No QB could make this offense work. Unless you have Rodgers or Manning at the helm, and the Packers did a hella job developing Rodgers. Read the story on Aaron Rodgers and then talk to me about player development. Jets had their chances in both 09 and 10. Wasn't because of the QB that we lost. It was the defense that gave up way too many big plays, a defense that should be the best with the best defensive mind in football. He's really not because he let the opponents dictate so much in big games. Colts and Steelers we played just fine offensively. The defense couldn't make plays to help out.
He played well in the Bills game. In the Colts game, he barely did what he needed to do to win In the Pats game, he had a terrible red zone interception and sealed away any chance to win with a game ending turnover(let me remind you that is EXACTLY what happened in the Texans game).
C'mon Barcs...Eva Longoria dumped his ass cause of his "mopey attitude". Don't you read the sports pages?
The dude said he still played terrible with decent protection. Actually in the Pats game, the protection wasn't all that great. In Colts, obviously our oline dominated and he barely had to do anything. Against Bills he played amazingly with great protection. It's night and day. We need better run blocking and pass protection. It's our biggest weakness.
Thomas and Tebow had a thing going towards the end of the year. Orton was ass. Plus Thomas made big plays when it counted (you know that Steelers play-off game). That one catch is better than any of the plays Hill has made so far with the Jets. Stephen Hill is going to be a player, but he's going to take longer than Thomas IMO.
he didnt really do anything against the colts and was just ok against new england. he played good against the bills, but who hasnt? protection was fine against the steelers and giants and the first miami game. he has had plenty of plays where he had all day to throw and made an awful decision(i.e. horrible int to hill against the pats). sanchez is the biggest problem. he is a bottom 5 player at his position, the most important position in football. time to give one of the other guys a shot, or trade for somone
Guys, guys, guys. Stop being so hard on Sanchez. He's great when the other team is terrible. It's only when the other team is, you know, rushing the passer, that things get ugly.
Our protection has been great, actually. I honestly have not seen Sanchez sacked too many times. He has MORE than enough time to make a good decision that an intelligent human being would make. Instead, he throws to the other team. Sanchez is the only consistent thing wrong with this team, and the sooner people higher up than us realize that, the better. The O-line held it's own against the Texans as well as the Pats with Wilfork. The receivers have got speed and separation when needed. The run game has actually improved since the Colts game. The ONLY thing wrong with the offense is Sanchez. He is the only fucking person on there who has not improved one bit. He either goes on a roller coaster or flat out regresses. Some people are so stubborn that they don't understand this.
How that is still a divisive point is genuinely incomprehensible to me. In four years, Sanchez's CAREER HIGH passer rating is 0.2 points higher than Blaine Gabbert's current passer rating. His career passer rating is almost five points lower than Gabbert's current passer rating. We're talking about BLAINE GABBERT.
Those continuity issues exsist because we have one of, if not the most inconsistent, inaccurate, and mistake prone quarterback in the league. you say the team hasnt tried to make him comfortable, yet we have 2 first round picks and a ton of money invested in the oline. a first rounder invested in a TE. a 2nd rounder invested in a wideout, traded for 2 wideouts. and paid another 2 big contracts. mark has been put in some great situations and some average situations. he has been below average or awful all 4 seasons. the problem is, for every touchdown, there is a turnover. guys who lead the NFL in turnovers dont do so by mistake. it also wasnt because of the qb we got there. #1 run game and #3 defense while sanchez played terrible, mistake prone football
keep backtracking. you said hill was more polished, yet he barely played the first half of the season, when he did was invisible, and hill was more productive week 1 then thomas was through 9 weeks. hill is almost the same size and as fast or faster. yes, thomas hit stride with tebow late... all the more reason to give tebow a shot to see if they can develope something. based on what? through 8 games, hill is much further along
exactly. yes some guys have had bad games or struggled. but sanchez has consistently been the biggest issue
Were those transactions for the good of the team though? I don't think paying Holmes 50 million was a good transaction. I don't think giving Wayne Hunter the chance to start again was a good decision. I don't think replacing Braylon and Cotchery with Mason and Plax was a good decision. Just because they signed players doesn't mean they were good for the team. The constant switching of WRs is pretty stupid, especially if you are trying to get a QB to be comfortable in the offense. When he's in a good situation the Jets do well. When you let the talent regress the team as a whole regresses. Point and case what happened AFTER the AFCCG against the Steelers. If we maintained the weapons and built depth, Sanchez might be an average QB right now. He makes a lot of mistakes, that's on him I agree, but like I said we didn't put the QB in the right position to succeed. We played good enough to get to the SB in those conference games, why did we lose them again? Now I am not a Sanchez-Homer. I want what is best for the team. We didn't do what was best.
Lulz at Sanchez apologists. He's been among the worst quarterbacks in the NFL by every statistical measure for four straight years. We won with him in the first two years because the rest of our team was absolutely stacked. Tebow went 8-5 last year with the #1 run offense and #24 scoring defense, and everyone is pretty much in agreement that he sucks. Sanchez went 8-7, then 11-5 with the #1 and #6 scoring defenses, and the #1 and #4 rushing offenses, and we're supposed to be impressed? No shit you can win if the rest of your team is so good that you can win scoring 17 points in a playoff game, in which the quarterback accounted for a total of 9 passing yards on the 3 scoring drives (true story: '09 San Diego game). Unfortunately, it's not realistic to expect to be top 6 in both rushing and defense every single year.
Yes, they were good for the team. Holmes is a talented player. but sanchez is awful, and he is frustrated not getting the ball. Holmes is a superbowl MVP. he doesnt mix well with mark, unfortunetly we didnt have time to find that out, as holmes was a free agent. Holmes single handedly won us some games after being traded and made some enormous plays(game winenrs vs cleveland, houston, and a big TD vs the pats in the playoffs). Brining in plax wasnt a bad move. we were terrible in redzone offense, after bringing in plax, we had one of the best redzone offenses in football. 1) yes, when the jets have enough talent to overcome bad QB play, they do well. 2) its extremely hard to pay a QB big money and also build a team so good that they can overcome him leading the NFL in turnovers. he doesnt just make alot of mistakes, he makes as many, or more, then anyone in football. the only reason we even got there was because of the defense, run game, and special teams. you are the biggest sanchez homer there is. we didnt do what was best -- that would have been getting rid of sanchez last season instead of rewarding him with a huge contract
So you would rather have Joe Flacco in the playoffs? He's been pretty stellar there don't you think? His team was / is far more stacked then the Jets.
hell yes id rather have flacco. you cant go by a handful of playoff games. its just too much of a small sample size. if flacco were on this team we'd be significantly better. he is much better then mark
