for the dude backing up mark sanchez the kid has the WORST completion percentage in the nfl. not 31, not 30th, but the worst! thats not from lack of talent around him, thats him just not being that good. you can say the FO ruined mark sanchez and i believe they did, but that doesnt stray away from the back that he is RUINED.
Matt flynns old OC didn't want him and he lost his job to a rookie in camp. That plus the cap hit this would require is enough to say no.
By asking "What about Flynn?", you are implying that we need to get rid of Sanchez, which invites ANOTHER discussion into whether or not Sanchez sucks. As you readily admit, there is no news, or even an unsubstantiated rumor, so why should Flynn even be discussed? Perhaps we should talk about Roman Gabriel, or Doug Flutie, or Bubby Brister? Until it's a REAL possibility, who gives a rat's ass?
The Seahawks gave Flynn a pretty big contract for a free agent who had 2 games of experience under his belt and they still decided to bench him over Wilson who hasnt looked special at all. And we want to add him? Pass
Pass on Matt Flynn. Now Matt Ryan after the 2013 season would be a much better Matt to sign. And the Jets can get out of Sanchez's contract just in time to do it. Of course, this presumes the Falcons do not reup Ryan.
This statement proves my point. In four years Sanchez struggles with the fundamentals of the game. If you can't or won't learn these fundamentals playing at the highest levels, he isn't going to. You say that his footwork, play evaluation, and his mental inadequacies are tied the problems you described and in the following sentence you say his completion percentage isn't mechanical. Your contradicting yourself. Repeat: If you can't or won't learn these fundamentals playing at the highest levels, he isn't going to. It is unfair to compare Smith to Sanchez. Smith had the worst receiving corp in the league last year and succeeded. Smith has never had an issue with his fundamentals, or his in game intelligence. I don't believe that anyone is asking for an Aaron Rodgers (of course take him if you could), but a good decision maker such as Smith.
Matt Moore I'd rather have Matt Moore...dude came in off the bench like a boss and handled it...he's like 8-3 in his last 11 games
The best thing the 49ers did for Alex Smith was hire Jim Harbaugh. The high majority of the talent on the 49ers was there under Singletary. Harbaugh understands the position and has turned Smith into a very efficient game manager. Therein lies the Jets problem. With this coaching staff the chances of having solid QB play are not good. The Jets need to blow it up by firing Tanny, Rex and the entire staff, gutting the roster and starting over. Some think that being only 2 years removed from an AFCCG appearance is cause to continue in the same direction. It's not. The direction the Jets are heading is downhill and quickly. Salary cap issues, bad contracts and bad drafts over the last 2-3 years have cinched the noose around the organizations neck.
Alex smith STINKS. The Niners are a more defensively stacked version of 2010 jets... And that doesn't win championships. Smith can't make throws reminds me of Sanchez. Has bad decision making as well.
Smith rarely makes bad decisions. He does't carry that offense & he doesn't blow games either. He plays it safe & ensures QB turnovers don't cost his team the game. Kinda like the opposite of Sanchez right now. Also, defense does indeed win championships. Last season we came extremely close to having a Niner/Ravens SB. Or do you think based on last season's performances the Niner & Ravens need to blow up their teams & rebuild to not be defensively-oriented. Even when you look at the teams in the SB, the Giants D are a huge reason they won that game.
Do you think Falcons are gonna let him walk away? They're gonna give him a lot of $$$ and if somebody offers more the Falcons will then up their offer.
Alex Smith is 4th in the NFL in efficiency rating. He just had an 18-19 2 TD game against the Cards. That's ridiculous to say Smith stinks. Harbaugh has turned him around. He'll never be elite but he is very effective with what they ask him to do.
People only say Alex Smith sucks because he was a #1 pick same with Sanchez Anyway Sign a vet, Hasselbeck Draft Zac Dysert get a real OC and QB Coach Develop Dysert behind Hasselbeck for a year and then come 2014 with all our cap room and some more pieces build a quality, well balanced team and go from there
