transformers blowing up. that's what I've been seeing all night around me. PSEG says estimated date for power returning to Bergen is 11-5
Holy Crap, major emergency at NYU Medical Center, power running out for the critical patients and there's a mass evacuation about to get under way right now. Power down, generators blew up, and backup generators failed. Very bad situation there's over 60 ambulances lined up on 1st ave waiting to evacuate patients
Here's what I've heard about the Jersey shore area... Atlantic City...completely underwater in most points. Saw on Twitter a homeless shelter was flooding and they needed to evacuate that. Part of one boardwalk is wiped out, too. Seaside...Heard at least one of the piers was underwater as well as most of the street. Manasquan...Heard it was flooded up to the train tracks. Belmar...Heard it was flooded up to C and D Street and some responders are swimming to people's houses to try and save them. Sayreville...Complete mess, floods, everything. Point Pleasant - Lots of flooding, water was rising fast, my dad got out of there somehow. Our boat is gone. So is pretty much everyone else's boat in the marina. Mantoloking Bridge...Heard that the bridge did get hit by a floating house but no major structural damage. Asbury Park Press stinks. This is all second-hand stuff from TV, friends, family, Twitter and Facebook, everything that looked legit.
Reportedly about 20 fires burning in Ocean County many on the barrier islands. Many can not be reached by fire fighters due to high water. The Nuke Regulatory Commision is also monitering Oyster Creek in Lacey.
I'm hearing a lot of bad things about Brick and apparently Silverton got slammed. My friend's husband had to leave his house in Toms River to go and get her dad out of the house in Silverton because of rising water. My cousin is telling me one of the houses burning in Brick is his friends. He says he can not begin to describe what he is watching and seeing in Brick.
Ocean County is dealing with serious flooding and fire issues. Most of the barrier island from Island Beach to Point Pleasant is under water. The ocean has breached and is now in the bay. Same in Monmouth Conty, from Squan all the way up to Sandy Hook. I'm reading reports of rooftop rescues in Sayerville near the Raritan River. Entire towns are under water.
Stay safe all . If looks scary and to think we announce a state of emergency over here for a light breeze.
I am listeing on the scanner... I can not believe what I am hearing. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/audio/?action=wp&feedId=1382
Much much worse.. it might take NJ years to recover. Based on what I am hearing on the scanner and tweets/facebook entire towns are underwater or have been destroyed.
Im been hearing the scanner and FB/Twitter updates, it seems cities in NJ, especially Atlantic City, are Katrina like destruction.
