A tree fell into a house near my parents' house in Toms River. There are big trees down all over the place. One ripped the sidewalk apart. There is going to be a huge flood where I live near the bay in Brick, so I left town.
I also heard that the Surf Club is gone. The river spilled onto the street in Island Heights last August. It will surely be worse this time.
The good news is LBI is pretty sparsely populated this time of year but in the past few years Barnaget has really grown. Places like Harvey Cedars, Ship Bottom and the other towns that make up LBI are going to get rocked. The other good news is that Island Beach State Park is a large empty area of just beach that nobody lives on and that's probably 15-20 miles long.
Your guess is as good as mine. I never go to those places. I only go to the boardwalk every couple weeks in the summer for food and leave shortly thereafter. All I know is someone told me Joey Harrison's (or Joey Harrington's) Surf Club is gone.
Jay Once this is all said and done, I will make sure to buy you a nice steak dinner. Keep those updates coming.
Wow. My sister in Sussex county (NW part of state) NJ just lost power. Power is still on in Glen Ridge.
Wow... I just saw that pic of Atlantic City and it looks eerily similar to New Orleans following Katrina.
I've just gotten word that my uncle decided to ride the storm out from his home in Seaside. My day just got a lot worse..
Worst of the rains and wind will enter Morris County in the next hour..and then downill for about 7 hours..after that on and off rain and slightly diminishing winds. Wind sustained at about 25 with gusts near 50. Short term though sustained 35-40..gusts 65-75.
I think that's where Al Roker was about to get washed away. Standing on a dune and pointing down at how the dune just ended in a new inlet while waves crashed around him eating away at the dune he was standing on. I hope your uncle changed his mind, at least I hope he's safe, man.
Yeah...AC taking a beating. REMEMBER...COUNTER CLOCK WISE ROTATION RIGHT? AC and north getting hammered with Easterly winds off the ocean..while 20 miles south is getting westerly winds..what does that tell you..quick lesson...If AC is getting strong easterly...and 20 miles south is getting westerly...COUNTER CLOCK WISE...that means the eye of the storm is right in between those two points and will hit in the next 10 minutes somewhere in between..say Ocean City or a few miles south. The eye is either about to hit or hitting now.
Ha..thanks Brook...not necessary but thats a very nice thought..if not for the damage for people...i would really love all of this..but I cant say that Im really enjoying tracking this at all. Im shocked..i mean shocked i still have power here in Wayne...surrounded by old huge trees..we lose power with a big thunderstorm...i still think my hours are numbered but will be around until and if it happens..but thanks for the appreciation.
