All this time, I thought it was going to spare me. Now, they change the forecast. 40mph gusts in SC the next 3 days, with sustained winds of 20mph+, that's enough to knock over some dead wood. The power of something that far away, wow.
I was suprised by that too. I saw Ashville NC is going to have 50-75 mph gusts just like the target areas,and were still in the 20-30 with over 40 gusts til Wed. This is one big ass storm!
Hmmmm... Weather Channel saying sustained winds up to 41 tomorrow afternoon for about 4 hours for Hicksville. Doesn't sound very scary. Hasn''t been very windy here yet. I'm still skeptical. I think people subjected to storm surge are screwed, but I still don't think it's going to be a big deal for me personally. It's all about the power. Lose it, and for how long. I can go 2 days before losing refridgerated food. I have 3 one gallon chunks of ice for the coolers. I'll still have plenty to eat. And drink.
TBJ...the timing sounds off on that bud. 4 hours of 41 sustained and in the afternoon? Landfall at the Jersey coast should be around 8 pm so the wrap around winds for all of LI would last at least until midnight..at least. I do agree though..its mostly power and wind. I will say this and I said it for most of the week until some models started to show more precip. Those on the northern side of land fall..LI, CONN and even northern NJ...I DONT WANT ANYONE TO THINK IM DOWNPLAYING THIS...but I just do not see the 6+ inches of rain. I just do not see it. They are all saying it..but I dont see it. I see a max of 4 and that is pushing it. Hope Im right and the experts are much better than me..but only one model showed heavy rains. Again..south Jersey Maryland...Southern PA...different story. Also..practically the whole state of WV is under a blizzard warning. There lies the Superstorm...storm of the century thing...some of Virginia too. Part of the state is under a high wind hurricane warning..part under a blizzard warning. Will never see that again in my lifetime.

On CNN the guy has been playing up a surge coming in one way into long island sound and the other way up new york harbor and colliding in the east river with never again in your lifetime type flooding to happen in Queens and Manhattan. we'll see how that works out tomorrow night
And the storm is about to bomb out..in fact it is as I type..this will show up on radar north of the and west of the eye. This does not mean the storm will intensify greatly at the inner core...but the expansion..what was feared most..will begin to race away from the eye and start to head towards the mid Atlantic and north east. What is happening right now is the reason many say historic because this now becomes perhaps the biggest storm to ever hit the east coast..in size. When it hits land..the pressure will break records too.
More importantly, the storm is beginning to make the turn around second base and head to third...direction is now gone from North East..away from the coast to directly north..and shortly after north west..

EVER. pretty crazy shit man, never thought Jersey could ever take a direct hurricane hit, in October (almost Nov) of all months

lol...yeah..bad thing..very bad. The combination of the front to the west..and upper level low over Virgina/MD are all feeding the system even more..and the pressures will start to drop even more. And you are correct...the pressure record will be broken with this storm..thats almost guaranteed.
Another thing..compared to NHC's actual track bringing into South Jersey..the storm is actually more east than their exact track..and even though its starting to make the turn..that could mean that landfall might be further north..perhaps as much as 50 miles..something really to keep an eye on.

I dunno man... check it out, zip code 11801. 41 MPH from 2pm to 5pm tomorrow. Under 40MPH before and after. I think a lot of people are screwed, but from the get go, I never beleived I was going to suffer much from this massive thing. Just a question of power outages, and I'm very prepared for that, although I do wish I had a generator.

Well like you said TBJ...its a power thing. I do totally agree with you..the power in the long run will be a huge pain in the ass. I just see longer heavier winds for your area right through midnight tomorrow. Hopefully im wrong.

Winds running about 15MPH with occassional gusts maybe up to 25 now. Some drizzle. Some dry spells. The evil TBJ wants to see some shit happen. I hope the evil TBJ remians bored.
