Woody, enough of putting guys in place that are your buddies or that will agree with everything you say. A good businessman, who is not in his position because he was a member of the lucky spearm club like you, would surround himself with smart people and hold them accountable. It is about time you do you the right thing for Jets fans and hire a real football person to run the circus organization of which you have had a big part creating. Empower that person to do whatever he thinks needs to be done to build an organization that will last like the great organizations. It would start with hiring the best scouts that money can buy so that we can built through the draft and not have clowns like Bradway and Clinkdale around for decades because they are nice guys. Tannenbaum needs to be givin 5 moving boxes ASAP and the next GM needs to secure the best young coach he can find and realize that we most likely need a creative offensive mind for the HC and then go get a seasoned DC who does not have HC aspirations and bring in a young assistant DC who can be molded to take over for him. You also need to go out and get a guy like Chad Pennington to be your QB coach and the rest of the coaching staff needs to be teachers. If you are not willing to do this for the fans, then the fans need to hold you accountable by picking a game to boycott, not sell the tickets to the fans of the opposing team, but to just not show up and have 70K empty seats. How great would that be for Thanksgiving night to send a message while the game is on national TV. Unfortunetly I am old enought to remember when the Giants organization was this dire and the NFL offices stepped in and told them they need to hire a football guy like George Young to turn that franchise around and it worked. Do the right thing Woody even thought I am one that feels you could give a crap about the fans as long as your yes men tell you how great you are.
I'm not sure Woody IS making money. It seems he needs to make some sort of idiotic splash every year like Favre or Holmes or Tebow in order to try to sell those damn PSLs. I expect nothing good from this man.
Very important to ignore the idiots who think firing people is the way to improvement. Its simply the way to chaos. Stay the course.
The Jets are in this position because they lack talent at certain key areas. The biggest being the offensive line in my opinion. Sanchez could get the job done when he has enough time to throw, is he great? No. Can he be upgraded? Yes. But is it something that has to be done? I dont really know the answer to that one. I believe we can win with him but will he ever be a strength for us? Probably not. With that said we absolutely can not win with this O-Line. We need to upgrade at right tackle, right guard, and left guard at this point. Moore is getting old and his best days are behind him, Slauson is a backup and Howard is average at best. A great QB might be able to play behind this O-Line but we dont have a great QB. We also have to address a couple of areas on the defense. Our outside linebackers are old and slow and lack pass rush ability, Wilson is a nickel/dime back at best and we still need to upgrade at safety as tight ends continue to give us problems (i'd keep Landry and dump Bell after the season), we really never should have traded Lowery. I like Tannenbaum and I think he deserves a chance to fix this but he has allowed this team to lose talent without replacing it since the end of the 2010 season. The two biggest examples of this is replacing Woody with Hunter and not upgrading at receiver after not resigning Edwards. The way I see it is if this season doesn't get turned around (and right now things look real bad) we have two paths we can choose to go down. The first one would be dedicating the draft and free agency to upgrading the O-Line and pass rush and take our shot again next season after parting with old players like Pace, Scott, and Thomas who are not getting the job done anymore (thanks for your contributions but here's the door). Or option 2 blow it all up. Fire Tannenbaum, replace Sanchez and possibly Rex too. Only problem with that is due to Sanchez's contract he is going to be on this team next year, as well as Holmes. So as mad as everyone is I would give this regime 1 more year to upgrade, get it together, and take our shot again next year with Revis and Holmes coming back as well.
What an interesting idea. Winning could make people like the team and want to spend money on them? Wow. Odd thought. I doubt that would work.
The only idiots are the ones that think this group is going to create a solid competive team especially with an accountant drafting the players.
Completely agree with you. The way I see it is we have Sanchez for one more year, like it or not. You might as well try and put pieces in place for them to win next year if you can. At least put best foot forward. Otherwise, you end up having Sanchez sitting on the bench eating up huge coin.
IF the team is in position to draft a franchise quarterback and they do not pull the trigger I will be seriously angry. You dont get those chances often.
If these coaches are the ones developing the franchize QB, leave him on the board. Unless it is Manning, QBs are drafted and developed. The Jets cannot develop a QB, the reason why we have never had one.
This is not a good draft for quarterbacks. The Jets would be better off taking someone in the mid rounds that you try to groom into something good and hope you can catch lightning in a bottle with.
If reports are true that Woody actually said he would like Tebow to be here for the next three years then we are doomed. I believe Woody is a bottom line kind of guy and not a passionate Fan like us. He relies on the likes of Tannenbaum and the coaches to make recommendation on player personnel or he is not involved at all in these areas. Woody will not be stepping up to any plate any time soon.
I actually think that Matt Barkley will be a star in the NFL. If the Jets trade up for another USC qb, however, the fans might burn down Radio City Music Hall.
Agree with jets12! Could someone please tell me what the course is for this team... From what I've seen so far we have no direction. At least not one that will produce a winning franchise. Contrary to the opinion of some on here, you DO NEED TO CUT YOUR LOSSES when it is obvious what you are doing is not working. :jets:
I keep saying this and I will say it till I'm proven wrong on the field... but if the plan is to draft a QB in the mid rounds, hoping to catch 'lightning in a bottle'... We may already have that 'lightning', Greg McElroy! :jets: I know I will get the usual nonsense from all the "KNOWLEDGEABLE" fans on here.
