Regardless..yeah cman..stock up and use the vacation time!...I sure as hell will. Yeah..there are several models that bring it into AC and carry it along the expressway into philly.

that has a lot to do with type..plus there is still a realistic spread of lets say 350 miles for landfall. Now that sounds huge but once the storm is lets say, 150 miles off the coast of virginia...we have a weird coastline in the mid atlantic/north east. A degree or two swing shoots a storm from landing in south jersey to crossing over eastern L.I.

Most importantly..as you said...the merging of a hurricane/subtropical storm with a major cold front and huge high pressure over the western atlantic causes incredible winds very far out from the center of the storm. Detroit may have no rain but wind gusts over 30mph. I will post loops as we get closer showing you just that.

Before noon today I would say you are correct..but perhaps not anymore. The speed of the storm and the outerbands may start to enter our area right around kick off. For sure by 5pm. Close call but this game might feel the beginning of the storm..might. Hurricane force winds? no...but outerband rain with some wind..maybe.

My wife is supposed to be flying in from China around 10 PM on Monday... will she make it or will the airports be shutdown at that point?

hate to be an asshole and i try to be positive but no...no way. Not if the models pan out..and even, at this point, if they are wrong...there is no room to say this area will not get hammered.

Its a matter of hammered...really hammered...clubbed...brutally beaten and clubbed.

So even at hammered by Monday night, no flights will be in and out until Tuesday night the earliest...Wednesday more likely.

Airports will begin shutting down some time on Monday. Sorry edge

NP and thank you, I figured that was the case but I've seen conflicting reports where some make it as if we won't feel more than a drizzle until mid-day Tuesday.

I trust your judgment though. I know you know what you're talking about. Hopefully this isn't too much of a mess!

Ok...some suggestions...some may laugh..but while the storm is hammering us..those that follow may actually enjoy it a bit more if PREPARED:

If you have a generator..you know how and where you set it up..set it up Saturday night or Sunday morning the latest..have it ready to go instead of waiting for power to go out and THEN trying to fight through that. Fill it up..also..VERY IMPORTANT..HAVE A COUPLE BACK UP FILLED GAS JUGS. When Irene hit, I remember our gas stations the day of the storm ran out of gas. Fill everything up on Saturday.

If you dont have a generator and cant get one...those who are much better than me electronically can explain you can buy and adaptor that goes into the lighter of your car and have you car works as a mini generator. You would be shocked at what you can run off it. Fridges, water pumps etc? I believe my buddies all told me that before i bought one. Those with much more knowledge than me can explain it better. If you have two cars...buy two. FILL YOU CARS UP WITH GAS ON SATURDAY. IF CABLE IS STILL RUNNING..YOU CAN RUN YOUR TV AND CABLE OFF YOUR CAR...REALLY.

You ever get water in your house on really bad storms? You will get water this time. Prep for it..if you can.

    Wind...whatever can blow away will.

Food etc...prep for 5 or more days without power. Its going to happen to some at least..so be ready.

Radios and flashlights etc...all battery of course.

Anyone that wants to add to it..feel free. Not trying to panic anyone...just trying to make this more enjoyable and less miserable.

    No problem brook.

One really amazing thing about every model the last 24 hours is the duration of the storm. Once it gets up to NYC it sits..and spins..sits and spins...and just dumps massive amounts of rain and the wind never stops. 22-32 hours of a solid pounding. It just never moves more than 60 miles in 24 hours..it goes from just over nyc to sussex county, NJ...in 24 hours. Nuts.

I sense a bunch of sarcasm in your typing Jon..so from here on there will be no weather updates for that part of Conn..almost like it doesnt exist. Partly Sunny? A chance of showers? Not sure.

Heavy rain...lots of wind...long duration. Like i said for you Jon...batteries jon...lots of batteries buddy!
