    This.

I have no problem with playing physical and trying to intimidate on the field -- in fact, it's how a good safety should play.

But when you openly tell the media that you're going head-hunting, you've straight up guaranteed that you'll get flagged at some point during the game. We've seen the exact same thing happen with Bart Scott in the past.

Unlike Rex's braggadocio, this kind of talk actually hurts the team.

Props for the big word, but you're out of your mind if you don't think Rex bears total responsibility for his players acting like undisciplined jackasses. They're just following his lead.

  3. I get what you're saying. It's not that I think that the Jets are faultless for this whole thing. More that this is how a physical defense first type team SHOULD act. Whether the no fun league likes it or not these type of rosters play their best when they are playing fast, violent & w/ a chip on their shoulder. The Steelers have done it, the ravens have done it, hell the 70's Raiders were the poster boys for it.

Should we expect the Phins & their fans to like it? Of course not. But to proclaim the Jets as classless & the Phins squeky clean is just completely off base. The Jets are a clean team that likes to play physical & intimidate. Like it or not it is well within the rules

Fair enough; maybe "actively" would have been a better word choice.

Unlike Rex's boasting and guarantees, you will be able to draw a clear and direct line from Landry's promise to go head hunting and the 15 yard penalty that will extend a Miami drive.

 Last I checked, talking doesn't injure people and Landry's hits have all been legal for the most part. Talking about karma and being happy about injury, most definitely is an asshole move.

Who's acting like undisciplined jackasses? OMG he said something to the media, that must totally mean he has no discipline on the field!!

Not debating that point, but why put a bullseye on yourself before the game. The league is adamant about "proving" they are trying to protect players from injury, so now if Bush gets hurt, clean or not, the talk will be that they "planned" to injure him.

I think that this is gonna be a really good game, and I hate to see the focus nationally about this shit instead of the game itself. Kind of must win for both teams.

I kind of like it. That kind of attitude used to be praised: go out there, hit somebody hard and whatever happens, happens. Now people are like "Oh my god he's so dirty!". LaRon clearly doesn't give a shit though.

Why would a disciplined guy with a reputation for being a dirty player knowingly and intentionally put extra scrutiny on himself by saying something stupid like that off the field? It's because he's not a disciplined guy. And that is in part due to the fact that his boss doesn't value discipline because he displays precious little of it himself. It's starting to permeate the entire franchise.

Great post, Kurt. I don't always agree with you to be sure, heh. But that's on the money.

It's not about being dirty, it's about calling unnecessary attention to yourself.

Rex showed again this past Sunday he can coach his team up big time, but he needs to learn how to rein himself and his team in sometimes.

I should copy and paste that everytime a fin fan tries to say the Jets are classless. Add Richie Incognito probably the dirtiest player in the league to that list and its perfect.

Some of you guys are ridiculous man. The guy is probably one of the best safeties in the league. He hits like an animal and walks the walk. These are football players! They hit people for a living and you're upset about them talking shit? Please man.

Go find another team to root for. I'll take Landry and day man. Any day

Landry's talking all big right now, but the funny thing is, his tackle on Bush was WEAK. He got buried underneath Bush and 6 other guys...it's not like he made some big hit. I actually read the injury occurred b/c Po'uha rolled up on Bush's knee in the pile...it had nothing to do with Landry.

I live in the DC area, so besides the Fins and the AFC East in general, I'm very familiar with the Redskins as all my friends are huge Skins fans. There's a reason why the Skins let Landry go. Yes, he's a big hitter. But he gets hurt all the time (as you all already know) and he sucks in pass coverage. You don't know how many times Skins fans got ticked off at Landry for getting beat in the passing game. And b/c he's so aggressive, he misses a lot of tackles as well. Most people here said good riddance when he left the Skins.

Love it...the only place I can get cheap tickets on the 50 yard line....they don't even support their team down in Miami!

For you young guys on here. Head hunting is a old old school term that he want to lay a player out. Not meaning he want to hit them in the head.
