Minus the near sack, 4 tackles and multiple pressures...

Coples looked better last night, but he's definitely a beast. Wish we could have both.

Jones is a 4-3 end, he wouldn't have had the same impact on the Jets as he had on the Pats.

He was good in that game, he forced a sack (Sanchez had to tuck the ball and turtle, but another player I think Love? touched him and got the sack credit). He played every snap and he drew a key (though questionable) holding call by beating his man off the line.

So he couldn't play 3-4 OLB at 6'5" 260? Roughly the same size as Cam Wake, Demarcus Ware, Clay Matthews?

Plus the Jets have been using 4 down linemen

Chandler Jones is a better and more productive player right now (7 games into his rookie year) than Quit-on Coples will ever be.

So how about that Mario Williams guy you spent all that money on? Coples is gonna be a force. Book it. Plus, it's Quittin' Coples, get it right.

I'm sure he could be an OLB. We needed a DE, though. The point was that they are vastly different and people don't realize that in 3-4 it's not the DE's job to be a stat whore, it's more about working together on the line to get pressure. Comparing him to Coples isn't fair when they play in completely different systems and have different duties. We do play 4-3 sometimes, but it's not exactly common yet, especially with Pou'ha and Ellis being hurt on and off for most of the year.

Can we agree its early in both of their respective careers and both have it in them to be good players?

I agree with you. You can not compare both of them simply because they play different schemes. 4-3 End is like a OLB in a 3-4. They go against the tackle and if they beat them it should be a sack it pressure. In a 3-4 the End goes against the middle of the line. Tighter space to get through and there's always another Linemen there to help if the end is pushing.

I could've sworn you guys needed a pass rusher more than anything. Drafting a 3-4 OLB/4-3 DE hybrid wouldn't have made your D a lot more stout than a 3-4 DE/4-3 DT?

Wow, that's such a great and intelligent response to my comment about Chandler Jones v. Quinton Coples.

First, you state that I love being made to look stupid, and then dont state what about my comment was stupid, or why it is incorrect.

Then you start discussing another topic, I'm guessing, as sort of an insult to me personally, which also doesn't make much sense because I did not sign Mario Williams.

But nice try at an attempt to disprove what I had to say about Jones/Coples. I would suggest that it is actually you, my friend, that is currently being made to look stupid in a thread about Chandler Jones. But hey, you're a Jets fan, so what else would I expect?
