Miami's Pass D is the weakness for sure, but that group has been playing better of late. Miami is best in the league on 3rd downs only allowing 26% of 3rd downs to be converted.
Nice posts by the fin fans. I agree your run d is awesome so the jets will have the win the game through the air. I would look for Kerley and Keller to have big games, hope hill can make some plays too the jets d has been playing better too. As long as bush doesn't go total beast mode the jets should be able to do alright. I would think cro will shut down hartline and then that leaves bess and fasano. It seems like gafney is your #3 but he doesn't scare me. Sanchez always seems to play poorly vs the fins so he will be the key. If he is garbage jets will lose.

Pretty much they are the opposite of the Jets right now. Tough against the run, but weak in the secondary. The Jets are strong in the secondary but weak against the run. Has anybody heard if Pou'ha or Ellis will be back for this game?
The weakness in Miami's secondary is a couple of things. Sean Smith is pretty dam good in coverage but he isn't at all physical. He has given up a couple of TDs he shouldn't have due to that. The other problem is Chris Clemens. This guy plays very carefully and for the most part is ok; however, at times he takes really bad angles and gives up big plays. Rashad Jones has come around quite nicely and I can see him being a thorn in the Jets offense for years to come. Excellent front seven, weak but improving secondary and a bend don't break style. It's easy to say I am concerned about Keller because he usually plays big against us. But Tebow is my biggest concern. At some point they are going to figure out when and how to use him and I hope it's not this week. Additionally, his play on special teams has changed the momentum of games. I really think this game comes down to turnovers and special teams.
What happened is Tannehill is a rookie and he ran into the buzz saw known as the Houston Texans defense in his first NFL game ever. They were hanging in there until Tannehill threw up all over his jersey.
Sean Smith has always had a rep for not being physical. The coaching staff has him playing at a completely different level, and he's very physical now FINALLY.
He does suck though, and I'm not saying that just because of my allegiance. I was all over Chad Henne and couldn't wait until he was out of Miami.
I'm not worried about Tebow. As far as the run game is concerned we shut down power run style backs. His passing is too erratic to worry about. The only way he could hurt us is a big play where we leave safeties up and he happens to hit a deep ball and Hill or Schillens happens to catch it lol. I'm worried about getting beat across the middle by Kerley more than anything and giving up a big kick return.
Sanchez. Not because he is so good. But because he is so streaky. The guy plays like crap but then he suddenly makes world class throws. He is so inconsistent. Even in a game. Just look at the game against us. For the most part he played like crap supported by his stats like completion%, TD/INT ratio. But then out of nowhere he throws a bomb to Holmes and moves the Jets down the field. I think based on the last game and how the season comes along we are pretty evenly matched. Except your blowout against Buffalo I think the AFC East is evenly matched and it comes down to who wants it most at the end - hence your battle at Gillette Stadium.
I was a bit over-reactive after the Patriots loss, but I think it will be a good game. We'll beat you all by one touchdown instead of three:wink: If we can get over 100 yards in rushing, we'll win the game. The Dolphins aren't the Patriots. 200 or so yards for Sanchez will also win this one for us. Here's another thing to consider. Tannehill is a rookie. He's never played in front of a relatively hostile divisional road game before. That may account for one or two picks in my opinion.
Can't run on them, but they have a suspect secondary. Problem is, the only player to do a thing against them in September is now on IR. If Hill or Kerley don't step up, it could be a long day. Keller will help, but he isn't the person you ride to a victory.
This game comes down to the success of two people. Bush and Sanchez. Ryan defenses make rookie Qbs look horrible and this will not change Sunday for the Miami to win Bush will have to go over 100yds rushing. For the Jets to win Sanchez will have to throw the ball and avoid the big mistake. The Dolphins are tough to run on but the Jets should get some good field position and Sanchez will have capitalize.
I don't think Sanchez for 200 yards is enough unless he reverses his INT/TD ratio from the last game and you run over 100 yards at the same time. Last game vs us Sanchez threw for 300 yards and if not for Carpenter twice you would have lost that game. Tannehill is a very good rookie. In the three games since we met the last time he was 64-106-3TDs-2INTs-61% completion rate-87QBR. What the numbers don't tell is the poise and command he has in the huddle, at the line of scrimmage and in the pocket. His release is much faster. The game is now slowing down for him. And all three teams (Cards, Bengals, Rams) are above the NY Jets D in pass D. I don't know how he will handle the atmosphere of a divisional road game. But I doubt hat any NFL stadium can compete with a rivalry in college. The atmosphere will be measured by time-outs and false start penalties. It will be a good test for him.
Are you kidding me??? They are 28th in the league in pass defense. This statement is just retarded. They stop the run infinitely better than they do the pass.
What? Only Arizona has a better passing defense than us. According to ESPN, we're within the top 10(8 to be exact) in terms of passing defense. The Bengals and Rams are in the top 20.
