An interesting look at the Jets top 3. We give Mike T a lot of heat for the lack of deapth and often call Wilson a bust/wasted pick around here, but the completetion% against would say otherwise. I think just the fact taht our defense seems to be slowy improving this season despite miss Revis is a good sign for Cro and Wilson's future.

We all know damn well Champ Bailey, even at his age, is a better CB than Wilson. I don't hate Wilson, I just know that he's not as good as Champ. The Jets top 3 corners had similar numbers in 2009 when Lito Sheppard and Dwight Lowery were #2 and #3.

There's a lot of evidence out there to suggest that the secondary will do well under Rex without one of the best corners ever.

This playing time will help Wilson. I think he has it in him.

All cb's get beat even Revis from time to time. It's just the way the NFL is and not enough people realize that.

That being said Cromartie is criminally underrated by this fan base and gets way more flack then he deserves. Dude is a stud, started becoming a sure tackler, and is very close to shutdown. I remember when the majority of GG didn't even want him so it is time for you to eat your Cro.

I apperciate them thats for sure,Wilson is a number 1 corner on atleast 12 other teams, and Cro is a stud we all know that already, he is better with out Revis for some reason

Cro was definitely looked down on & there's posts from last year stating he wasn't even a decent #2 CB. Right now it's obvious (I hope) the Jets have a legit #1 CB and one of the top CB in NFL history. This is why I believe that Jets have the greatest CB duo ever.

At the same time, I also believe this is the wrong era for talents like Cro & Revis to be matched together. So few teams out there can put out two game breaking WR on the field & the best team in our division passes more to their TE than WR. Despite that, the Jets are going to sink so much $$ into their CB positions. Cro deservers to be paid. Revis deserves to be paid more but I'm really thinking it's insanity for one team to pay them both at the same time.

Is shutting down the teams #2 WR the best usage of $9,000,000 of the salary cap?

Cro was a decent #2 receiver last season making #1 money. He has elevated his game a ton this season, taking away a few egregious mental errors early on. He's definitely earning that money this season. He's even doing well on short and intermediate routes, which were his weaknesses in 2010.

I must add, I think the only reason he didn't make that pick on Sunday was because there was an uncalled PI by Gronk, he made an obvious head slap to the back of Cro's helmet.

I argue every day with my friends saying that Cromartie is the best cornerback playing this season. They come back saying Brandon Carr is better and Joe Haden, but I honestly don't think so. I've seen some Cowboys games and Carr doesn't look to hot and I don't watch Brown's games so idk. What do ya think?

I don't know, I've seen all Cowboys games this season and Carr looks fantastic. I don't know if he's tops in the league, but he looks like a more all-around skilled corner than Cro to me.

You can look at stat sites, but those don't tell the whole story either.

Id say Cro is top 5 for sure but I haven't seen every corner so I dont want to say exactly a number. Webb was playing amazing until he went down. I think he is a much bigger loss than Ray Lewis.

I don't think the author is saying wilson is better than cahmp, but that he's better than given credit for and used that stat to back up his argument. Wilson would be a good #2 for most teams and is stuck in our Nickle job for now.

Wilkerson and Coples seem to be gettign better and better as the season goes one, I hope that they can provide the pressure we need to make the defense really hit its groove.

I heard that Cro said he used to get bored covering all the #2 WR's, and it's part of why he would loose focus and give up plays. Now that he has all of this pressure, he is rising to the occasion, and maybe saving our season. After all, our D scheme basically calls for a shutdown CB at this point, and now we don't even have to change it. Mid-season changes like that ruin seasons more than actually not having the injured player.

I get that. I'm just trying to point out that a lot of the success of our CB's can be attributed to the coaching and system. I think we undervalue the defensive coaching staff more than the CB's.

Jets fans are very spoiled. If we had any type of pass rush, this defense would be top 5 easy. It looks like Coples and Wilk (DeVito too?) have been getting good pressure on the inside of late. We need someone on the outside that has more than the "run around the tackle" move Maybin showcases.

Revis would be amazing anywhere they let him play man. I do think people here undervalue our Defensive coaching staff all the time. We have maybe the best DB coach in the NFL, now a great Dline coach and Rex/Pettine of course.

  16. Wilkerson & Coples are really collapsing the pocket. They are also both very long which makes them hard to get around. When Rex has blitzed it has been very effective b/c the rushers have better lanes to the QB.

Fuck no. Cro gives up a big play here and there in 2010 and 11 and this piece of trash fan base wants him gone/replaced. It's laughable. I always ask the Cro haters: how did we have a top 5 ypg defense in 2010 and 11 with slow LBs, no passrush, and midget white-boy safeties. Still have never gotten an answer.

Then there's the Kyle Wilson bashers who still don't realize you need at least 3 starting calibre corners to compete with the spread offenses/3 WR sets in today's game. Waste of a pick they said, and they just pop in when he gives up a completion here and there but nowhere to be fuckin found after a solid performance.

To some, the CB is either Revis or Deion Sanders or you're garbage. Can't wait til we get a passrush going.

Cro still gets hated on for that bad 2-3 game stretch last year where he fumbled that one kickoff. Since then, he has been on fire. Wilson is definitely underrated.

While Cro's play has been super, you know he's good for a couple PI calls.
