They both are looking very well. They seem to get better every game their in together. Wilkerson is a stud in the run game and is constantly putting pressure on the QB. Colleagues is looking so good out there, he really is impressing me with all the QB pressures. Add in a pass rushing OLB and we'll be set.
yea we need to replace Bartt Scott and Bryan Thomas and either Devito or Pouha and we will be back to sacking QB's 5 times a game
Scott and Thomas didn't even start the game. Davis and Trufant started in their place. Can't look good for these two.
Cant argue with that - the jets are in very good shape moving forward with harris, davis, coples, and wilkerson.... and with revis and cromartie together hopefully next year. IF u can hit pay dirt with a couple younger guys at OLB this offseason - u have a very good defense - at least on paper.
defense seems faster and more attack mode - except for the pussiest series of Ryan's tenure at the end of the game.
With Revis, Cromartie, Wilson, Landry and Bell in the back then Coples, Wilkerson, Maybin? and this years first? Our team will look very well. Especially if Harris plays at his other years level and Demario playing as well as he did last game.
Coples is starting to turn it on now. He needs to be in on 75% of all defensive snaps from here on out.
Coples had another sack and some more pressures, I still would of liked Chandler Jones, but hey this kid can play
Here's the thing, if the situations were reversed, would the results also be reversed? What I mean is, Quinton Coples is adjusting to playing as a 3-4 DE for the first time in his career and is generally an unglamorous position from a stats perspective. Chandler Jones is playing as a 4-3 DE in New England and so there's a shorter learning curve for Jones. If Coples was in New England, he'd be playing his more familiar 4-3 DE or (occasional) 4-3 DT where as if Jones were drafted by the Jets, he'd be standing up for the first time in his career as a 3-4 OLB, a totally different scheme and thus a longer learning curve than he's currently experiencing. If Coples were in New England and Jones here, we could possibly be clamoring for Coples instead of Jones! Either way, both players have had solid/good rookie campaigns and I've so far been happy with the Coples selection.
One thing can be said about the value of Rex Ryan to our defense, as long as Rex is involved with this organization we will have one of the best defenses in the league. A lot of young talent on the defensive side of the football.
BUMP for Muhammad Wilkerson. He's been playing very well the past four weeks (19 total tackles, a sack, 2 FF, and a PD). Top 5 DE? Also, because it's a Wilk/Coples thread, I'll obligatorily point out that he looks super ripped in his ESPN bio picture http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14934/quinton-coples
That's a great point. The D-line and D in general (besides OLB) is in good shape. Hopefully they find some OLBs this offseason. That along with Revis coming back will make this D the best Rex has had in NYC.
Landry has not played like garbage. Not even close. He'll be back next year unless he gets injured. Bell, probably not.
the jets for the future.have to look foward to featuring a front four defense.of the utmost importance is replacing their linebackers. p.ace, scott, and harris must be replaced. the flaw is very obvious.
