Tim Tebow has not worked out this season so far because he has to throw the ball once in a while to keep the defense honest......No play action at all.. Rex has made him throw maybe 2 -4 times..What???In about 50 or so snaps this year.. He just runs up the middle or a stupid option with no pass in mind.. It's like a 98 percent chance he will not pass.. That's why he can never be effective in this system... No one is fooled.. Watch sunday.. Out of his 10 - 15 plays...He might throw it once or not at all. Tony.S. better mix it up more like run one and then pass one to keep them honest.. Not just pitch or fake pitch and run up the middle.... Every time he comes in.. I call the play out loud and the defense knows there is no chance of a pass coming.. I understand new system, but these are basic plays being called incorrectly..
I've personally been dieing for him to be running the ball as a HB all year. Hopefully this weekend, it finally happens.
That's not the point of the thread..Not a running back but can pass the ball once in a while instead of that run up the middle or fake option in which defenses know he is not gonna throw it..
The Jets didn't sign a running back this week because of Tim Tebow's ability to play the position, sources tell ESPN New York. Both Bilal Powell (shoulder) and Joe McKnight (ankle) are out, leaving only undrafted rookie Jonathan Grimes behind starter Shonn Greene. Beat writer Rich Cimini takes that as a "sure sign" Tebow will be involved. Look for him to top his season-high of five carries and handle the short-yardage work. The Jets are going to have to pull all the tricks out of the bag to hang with the Patriots in Foxboro. Oct 18 - 12:00 PM
There's no right way to use a spread-option QB in a normal NFL offensive scheme. Wildcat clearly is not the right way to use the guy. The problem is that it takes commitment to a scheme that nobody thinks is optimal for NFL play. A generation ago, before 24/7 sports media and ESPN Tim Tebow would have been happily playing and prospering in the CFL right now. That's probably where he belongs today but his marketability will keep him in the NFL until the bitter end.
Look at Cam Newton this season. He's averaging 8.5 yards a pass attempt and his team is scoring under 19 points a game. That's almost impossible to do but spread-option will do that to you.
I don't think the Jets have very good options anywhere on offense right now. The talent just isn't there and it takes critical mass to be good in the NFL.
"Is Tebow being used the right way?" No. I have yet to see Tebow on the sidelines during a game holding a clipboard, like the rest of the NFL 'c'mon back' QB's who get paid for perfect attendance.
I was telling someone Tebow would end up in the CFL. It would be a good move for him, and a great move for the CFL. Tebow is not as bad or good as his detractors and supporters believe, but he is a baller, cool under pressure, and would do well there.
Tebow is not as bad as his detractors believe, and probably better than most of his supprters believe.
"Is Tebow being used the right way?" What is the right way? Starting QB?... Well the Broncos didn't think that was the right way to use him. The Jets don't seem to think that was the right way to use him. The other teams in the NFL that didn't trade for him didn't think that was the right way to use him. So again, what is the right way to use him? As the Jets have used him? He has converted fake punts into first downs - that's good. He has gained some first downs rushing and in option plays - that is good. Could he be used better? Perhaps that is what the Jets are working on. Should he pass more? Well he is not known as a good NFL passer so I think no he shouldn't pass more. But all these run plays are obviously leading up to the grand slam pass play. Its subtle. But leading everyone to believe that he won't pass will one game lead to the perfect opportunity to have a WR streaking down the sideline unprotected. Hopefully in a big game for a big strike and a TD.
Why are people so sure that Tebow can't pass after only ONE season as a starter? They're absolutely positive that Sanchez is the answer after 4 years of regression and McElroy is the messiah who's done nothing. I will also add this, I'm getting a little tired of Tebow playing the good soldier with his aw shucks philosophy. If he really wants to be a starting QB then he has to show some emotion. If he's okay with his situation then he'll never start again and he can blame himself for not expressing dissatisfaction. What's the worst the Jets can do, not play him or trade/cut him? Lol, okay.
One of the reasons he hates Tebowites is probably because Tebowites can't comprehend why they're hated.
According to 31 teams the right way to play Tebow was not at all so any play is better than no play at all (for him). Tebow is going to get played how the CS sees fit. Obviously they are not going to give him a spread option and force 11 players on the field to accommodate his inability to play in any other system. The more interesting question is whether Tebow will accept not having a chance to be "the guy".
Its really a no win situation when trying to explain why us Tebow fans believe in him so much. Kinda of like trying to convice people you haven't accepted losing even though you're a Vanderbilt/Jets fan.
This is the stuff that drives tebow fans batty. if he is 9-7 as a starter in his first 16 starts, also has a playoff win as a starter on a team that was not that strong when he took over. Has about 3 or 4 legitimate NFL records (already) Was the NFL"s #1 red zone threat per attempt in 2011 (I mean this alone proves that he belongs in the NFL and not the CFL) Scored 32 TDs in 16 games and small appearances in a few others. This young guy who is 24 years old and has years to gain experience and get better , this guy SHOULD BE IN THE CFL...wow.... man its crazy. I am not saying he is a star QB, he is not, but man he is not trash either. Blaine Gabbert is happily chucking and ducking in his second year but Tebow belongs in the CFL...WOWZER!
