POST SEASON Trent Dilfer (6 games): 44%, 4 TD, 4 INT, 66.0 Rating Mark Sanchez (6 games): 60%, 9 TD, 3 INT, 94.3 Rating
Let’s look at it this way. Compared to other QBs who have huge contracts that chew up a large portion of their teams salary cap - Sanchez is at the bottom by a long shot. We pay one of the worst QBs in the league top 5 money. You know whats worse than being stuck with a mediocre QB? Being stuck with an expensive mediocre QB.
by the #s? sure but Dilfer made big plays for that 2000 team and Flacco has been a mediocre/bad postseason QB. w/o Dilfer they don't wn, they won w/ D first but even the greatest D's don't win w/o quality QB play.
Doesn't watch the games. Wants Tebow triple option offense in the NFL, used to be a big supporter of sanchez.... Not sure if trolling or serious.
Really? The fact that the Ravens played 20 games in 2000 and held the opponent to 10 points or less in 15 wasn't the reason they won the Super Bowl? Put Sanchez on that team and they probably go 15-1. And no, this is not a ringing endorsement of Mark Sanchez by any means but to suggest that Trent Dilfer was under-rated when he was having one of his typically mediocre seasons as an NFL QB and won the Super Bowl because the defense was having maybe the best season of all time while a rookie ran for 1,300 yards with no passing attack is kind of ludicrous. Did you know that Dilfer had a 4.9% Interception percentage in his starts that season? The worst of his career until his last season? He was under 50% completions in the playoffs also. Two years later a guy named Brad Johnson, now he was a QB that played above his level and helped steer a team to the Super Bowl and win. Dilfer just got lucky and played badly but had Ray Lewis and company refusing to lose along the way.
Please, that defense that year was a top 5 all time, and it had nothing to do with Trent Dilfer. They gave up a total of 23 points in 4 playoff games. -Gave up 960 rushing yards for the year and 2.7YPC -They gave up 10 points or less in 11 of 16 games. -Forced 42 fumbles and recovered 26. 23 interceptions. They had Mike Smith, Rex Ryan, Jack Del Rio, and Marvin Lewis on the coaching staff. Dilfer played much like Sanchez's 09/10, but instead of an excellent defense, he had a historic defense.
did you not read what I wrote? I said they obviously won w/ D first but no matter how great a D you have you aren't winning w/o quality QB play. Dilfer made plays to help them win. You do know w/o him they won about a month w/o scoring a TD, right? Brad Johnson is antoher underrated guy, helped THREE different teams reach postseason. You don't need a great QB to win SBs, you need the right QB and Dilfer and Johnson were the right QBs for those teams. Limited mistakes, made big plays when needed. Baltimore went 5 straight games w/o scoring a TD(4 of which were w/o Dilfer). averaged 17 PPG w/o Dilfer starting, 25 w/ Dilfer starting. Bal has had plenty of great D's and has never been back since. Dilfer made big plays in each postseason game, as great as that D was(and it was the primary reason they won) they wouldn't have won w/o the vastly underrated contribution of Trent Dilfer.
You're in the echo chamber. The bulldog has his side of the bone and you either just walk away or get down and grab the other side in your teeth and start pulling. I make my point once and then walk away from the growling. It's the smart reaction to that situation.
Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Big Ben and Sanchez, so that proves what? He belongs with Delhomme...
whatever the reasons you want to give he was a key member of that team and they haven't even been to a SB since despite consistent great Ds. as great as the '00 D was the '06 wasn't too far behind. The biggest difference btw the 2 seasons? In '06 the supposed much better Steve Mcnair threw 0 TDs and 2 INTs at home in the div rd. Dilfer threw 1 INT in 4 playoff games in 2000. Dilfer was never a great QB but again you don't need great QBs to win as we have seen numerous times in the last decade or so but you do need a QB to make plays, bal had it in 2000 and hasn't had it much since which is why they won in 2000 and haven't won since. you make your point, it is countered w/ facts then you sulk away whining about me rather than try to counter my points b/c you can't.
This thread again? How many times can you say Sanchez sucks? We get it, the guy isn't what we thought he would be. Shut up about it.
