I posted this in the other thread that is now closed... We just picked up a commitment for 2013... another former McDonald's AA in Jalen Kendrick. He has NBA potential and this is probably his last chance. Adding him to a lineup that should include Roscoe Smith, Bryce Jones, Savon Goodman, Khem Birch and possibly Anthony Bennett is going to be ridiculous. Throw in Chris Wood has the potential to be an AA and we could be absolutely loaded with talent....now the question is can Dave Rice coach all that talent and manage all the egos. There are already a few guys at CBS who have picked us as a Final 4 team. Expectations are sky high and at this point anything less then a Sweet 16 is going to be a disapointment.
UNLV is looking good, hopefully the heels can get revenge on the beating in vegas last year when the Rebs go to Chapel Hill on 12/29.
Well if we get you in Chapel Hill I don't what I'll do. That would really be incredible to beat you guys two years in a row and I think it would really establish us as legit program. We'll also have Khem Birch for that game. Reports are Bennett is absolutely dominating Moser in practice and Birch is owning the paint. He apparently has developed a nice jump hook and is pulling a ton of rebound. I am insanely excited for this to get underway. The MWC is loaded this year, SDSU is going to be very good again as Syracuse and UCLA will both find out. I never sleep on New Mexico and Colorado State should also be a tourney team. I also think Nevada will be very good. I don't think it's crazy to think we could get 5 teams in the tourney and anything less then 4 would be a major disapointment.
last year you shouldn't have beat the heels, this year you should. You guys are better going into that game or you should be.
Villanova has had a pretty nice recruiting class and I expect Jayvaughn Pinkson to be have a big year. Might not show this year but I think they should be back in the national picture in the next year or so.

SDSU should be better than SU going into that game. It is in San Diego and they have 4 returning starters. It is also the first game of the year for an SU team that lost 4 important players (waiters didn't start last year). With that said SU could be very good once they get some games under them, they have talent, they will just need to become a team.
I never sleep on Cuse , Boeheim has proven he doesn't rebuild, he just reloads. I think that game being on the carrier makes it hard to handicap and it's not a true road game as it won't be in Viejas which has become one of the toughest places to in the country.
I have a tough time believing that SU will be ready for SDSU to start the season. SDSU is returning most of their starting five and is playing in their backyard. This is not a case where SU will dominate talent wise because SDSU is just about as talented as they are with way more experience together as a team. We have a new starting PG (MCW), and Center (D. Coleman), and a very raw PF (Christmas). I do think Coleman will be even better than advertised and he may just be ready to deliver right away but his first game? I doubt it. This years SU team has a great deal of talent but probably needs some time to gel.
We have a Grand MA MA sighting! Awesome! I think UNLV will be good this year but like SU they will need some time to gel. I think they are a great 8 type team this year.
We have a bunch of new players but the good thing is Bennett and Birch (our 2 AA's) have known each other since they were kids and have played together on the Canadian team. Bryce Jones sat out last year and was able to practice with the team all of last year. There may be some struggles early on but they took a preseason trip to Canada and played I think 4 or 5 games against Canadian teams so they were able to play together there. We had our Scarlett vs Gray scrimmage last night and word is that Bennett was awesome. They say he was jumping out of the gym and electrifying with his dunks.

Damn right diggity they are...With last year's freshman going in the first round to the Sixers, I expect the Johnnies to be players now for big recruits with Lavin back too
