I believe this is the root of the discussion between the sunshiners and the darksiders. I apologize for starting a seperate thread, as there are hundreds of threads about Mark Sanchez. However, this could be a telling thread on who is and who isn't a Sanchez fan, and the ability to provide some actual discussion of who is and isn't a better/worse quarterback than Sanchez.

Please, depending on where you rank Sanchez, please list the QB's that you wouldn't take over Sanchez.

    Thanks you in advance!

Top 25. I don't think he's bottom of the barrel, but I do think he is below average which would be below 16.

Wheeden, Gabbert, Bradford, Palmer, Cassell, Freeman, Vick, Kolb/Skelton. So I'm at 23-25 range with Sanchez. Don't think that's too unrealistic. I also don't think switching him magically makes our offense amazing.

    I wouldn't take
    Kolb
    Skelton
    Fitzpatrick (Turnover reasons.)
    Cutler
    Weeden
    Gabbert
    Schaub
    Vick (Injury risk and turnovers)
RGIII (Injury risk but if he develops more as a passer and doesn't take too many risky hits it's different)
    Quinn/Cassel
    Palmer

    Sanchez is top 20.

I picked top 15 but, honestly, he's probably in the 15-17 range. Plus the question is misleading, there are QBs that are better than him that I wouldn't necessarily pick before him because some of them are older and injury prone.

For a one year run I'd take a lot of guys but if you're talking about a multi-year approach with the one QB I would cut out guys that are clearly superior but getting old like, Peyton and even Brady.

Plus I think there are some QBs that are only as good as they are because of the team that they play on. I don't think Flacco is anything incredible but with Ray Rice being such a threat it really opens up the play action, if Sanchez played on that team I think he'd be every bit as successful.

Top 20. Literally right at 20.

Cassell, Tannehill, Fitzpatrick, Dalton, Weeden, Palmer, Locker, Gabbert, Kolb/Skelton, Cutler, Bradford, Freeman.

I think it is a pretty reasonable list.

I think the whole issue is muddled by Mark himself. We've seen him be one if the best in the NFL, but also one of the worst. You can't game plan for Mark, and that's his problem. Mark is a better QB than A Smith, but smith is more consistent easier to field a team around. That is what drops Mark as a QB.

You honestly have to be on crack if you wouldnt take RG3 over Sanchez... He's a better passer now than Mark is in his 4th year. Obviously you havent really watched him play and just look at his skin color and think he's a running QB, meanwhile he is a pocket passer with the ability to run.

Can anyone who voted top 30 list the two QBs you don't think are better than him?

He is rated by the NFL and by almost any stat he is ranked from 28-33. 33rd in Completion percentage. 31 in QBR. His best stat is sacks with being 22nd in the league.

If I had to start a team based on all QB critireon (age, stats, team they play on, complementary players) I put Mark between 11 & 15.

Mark playing on the 49's based on how they are currently constructed would make him a multi-SB winner. He's a better passer than Smith. Smith has the perfect surroundings and after 7 years in the league, he's coming into his own.

Mark can easily make the Raiders, Seahawks, and 49'ers, better. The Ravens would probably be in the same spot they have been in with Flacco. Again, all based on currently constituted. He might even be able to make the Bills better. Fitzharhard is in his 8th year and he's not exactly setting the world on fire.

Stats definitely don't tell the whole story with Mark. That goes for a lot of QBs in the league.

I thought he was in the middle 50% going into the year. Here's who I wouldn't take over him: Fitzpatrick, Tannehill, Weeden, Locker, Gabbert, Palmer, Whoever KC has, Bradford, Kolb.

I would take damn near every starting QB and a few backups (Flynn, Campbell) over Sanchez. I'll give him his credit when he plays well, but for the most part he sucks.
