I honestly don't know. But if Tebow is perhaps nicked up, and McElroy needs to learn the offense just in case, then perhaps O'Connell was here to play the role of Tom Brady in practice. I just can't imagine its anymore than a practice or injury situation. To go thinking that, as some have, this means the end of Mark or Tim... nah. O'Connell is apparently a good student and practice guy. Why not bring him in? The Jets have been all about consultants lately.
Cuts are based upon roster spots and talent level. Consultants are based upon information and teaching. I suspect he was consulting. Besides, it only said he came for a visit. Today I visited the grocery store; that doesn't mean I get a job there.
The point is we don't know... but it would be lunacy to think O'Connell's "visit" means Sanchez, Tebow or anyone else is getting cut. Consultant. Maybe practice guy, coach, teacher or even just saying hello.
You know , this might really be it . With McKnight and Powell out , Tebow might have to carry the ball, and if he gets injured they need someone in the PP role because it's been so successful , Tebow getting traded is a ridicoulous assumption , if anything it shows the value placed on his current role .
Oh Rich Cimini, aka Dick Cimini. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/16829/does-qb-tryout-affect-tebow
Jets fans really hate him, check out some of his responses to angry jets fans on his twitter feed, he is so arrogant. Honestly if the Waived Tim, he can go to the Pats and tell them the Jets plans. Also it will be a massive PR nightmare. I don't see them doing it. They worked out O'Connell because a. He was a former Patriot and b. Both Sanchez and Tebow have back injuries, though both will be probable this weekend. If one of those go down, O'Connell may get an offer.
wow....just wow...what has Tebow done , besides work hard, be a good team mate and convert fakes in half the games , pick up blocks at fullback etc to be traded? For a 4th round pick Tebow is a steal if he only does what he has been doing the last 6 games for the rest of his career.
There are lots of different scenarios that working out O'Connell would play into. We've got the Pats game, which could easily be a blowout loss. We've got the bye week near at hand, which is when you would try to install a different offense. We've got the Jaguars stinking up the joint this year with a new owner and coach, neither of whom were in the Blaine Gabbert selection process. We've got the trade deadline happening at the same time as the bye week. There's a lot going on right now and you have to think the Jets at 4-4 in the bye week might go one way and at 3-5 another.
I posted this in the other thread, here it is again. Just read an interesting post at ESPN. Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but since were speculating like crazy....if this is something more than a scout squad move, why do we assume it is Tebow involved? Who says McElroy isn't upset about his role and is beginning to grumble?
McElroy dissed about the Jets before and there was speculation if they were going to cut him in March.
Obviously it means the Jets are building towards an 11 QB offense. All players on the field are QBs. Who will take the next snap? Nobody knows.
Rex Ryan: Tim Tebow at running back 'a possibility' nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000081918/article/rex-ryan-tim-tebow-at-running-back-a-possibility Personally I hate to see Tebow switch position to RB. It's very easy to get injured especially when other teams would like to take extra hard hit on your QB.
