The “How do we beat the Patriots” thread is getting a little long. Enough with general strategy, let’s deal with a specific situation. It’s 3rd and 6 (out of field goal range). How do we convert it? We’ll be there a lot, so this will be a key for the Jets. With our personnel, their personnel, what are the best options? What will we face? Do the Patriots have a strong pass rush? Do they blitz alot? What do we need to do? (Someone else can start a thread on how we DEFEND 3rd and 6)
I apologize for the initial responses to this thread. Hang in their everybody, their mothers should be putting them to bed pretty soon.
Depends on how the game has been progressing (1), what the score dictates (2), what remaining time dictates (3) and what the field position dictates. (4) Just throwing out 3rd and 6 is not sufficient information enough to make any intelligent guesses.
It will probably be a short out to Kerley which will be well over thrown. Mark and Chaz look like they might a decent connection, so we'll see.
I like this option! Wouldn't surprise me to see it. Hope it surprises the Pats though. Speaking of Keller, how did he look vs Colts?
Tebow in the read option with two cracks at moving the sticks. All game, no matter the field position. Desperate measures for desperate times.
If Mark can keep the Hill Bros connection going, we should be OK. But there's a lot going into a 3rd and long. I say take the delay of game penalty for 5 yards and punt if we are out of feild goal range.
Would like to see Tebow, Cumberland and Keller in together on 3rd and long. It won't happen, but... With this package, Tebow in shotgun and actually permitted to pass, this could be an interesting 3rd and long package. Tebow can pass to tight ends better than wide receivers. With his ability to scramble, he can extend the play to find an open man, or run.
