Coples Officially Passed Vernon Gholston today on the Jets All-Time Sack List

Discussion in 'New York Jets' started by klecko73, Oct 14, 2012.

  1. Offenses are showing Coples some respect w/ a few double teams & even rolling the pocket away from him. However He is def. playing a step slow...still thinking and not reacting, especially at DE. He's out of his stance slow & high.He still disrupts offenses b/c he's extremely good at disengaging blocks & has a huge wingspan. When his release off the snap gets better he could be special. He's strong, can flip his hips, disengage & takes up a ton of space.

There were quite a few Gholston backers on this board back in the day.

Glad to see Coples improving every week. Him and Wilk could be a nice tandem on the D Line for years to come.

He already weighs 290. You dont want him to put on too much weight then he may lose some of his quickness and wont be able to get to the QB.....

Do you switch channel when the offense is in? I can name a handful of players with a worse season so far than pace.

No because then all the talking heads would need to admit that they were completely wrong about Coples being an almost guaranteed bust.

i dont know if 10+ sacks is in the cards, but if he can start to produce a sack or two every other game it would still be huge

yeh coples is definitely big enough. hes a beast out there, no need for him to get bigger. he just needs some more reps, after all, he is a rookie haha.

Bro... Can you explain why you think Q's lazy?

No disrespect meant, but I HATE hearing this shit.

People forget, the projected top 3 draft picks right after the goddam Giant took home the trophy was:

    Andrew Luck
    Da'Quan Bowers
    Quinton Coples

Go look it up, that was mayock and all the other "experts".

Then Panthers and Bills fans all shit their pants because Bowers ripped up his knee and Luck and Q decided to stay for their senior season.

Q did have a HORRIBLE senior season, but UNC contributed to that. I dont know what happened in Chappel Hill, but something went down. Watch any one game, it was truly hard to watch.

So flash forward to this draft and Q gets called lazy by the ESPN juggernauts and everybody believes it.

BUT DUDE! If Q was lazy... Why the fuck didn't he come out last season and get that money? If he came out last season he'd be upstate facing us twice a year. Guaranteed. He stayed because he was committed to his frat, and wanted to get his degree at a tier-1 college. Which is no joke man, I go to Temple. Which is ranked 106 in the nation and I get overwhelmed academically. Carolina's in the 20s. That farrr from lazy dude.

I probably sound like a fanboy, but I love the first half of this year and last year's draft class. If it weren't for a dudes like Q, Wilk, Hill, Demario, Ellis I would have lost all interest in this season the second Revis tore his knee up.
