As a Yankees fan, this postseason is like watching a slow, painful death. I don't know what happened to this line-up. Yes, they are an older team, but not dead! Statistically, how can Cano possibly be 0 for 26??? Even I can hit one sometimes, and I'm twice his age! No, something is going on here. Cano, A-Rod, Swish, Tex...even if they swing wildly, they should be able to put a ball in play sometimes! The only guy who tries hard every time is lost for the postseason? How is this possible? Lose a series? Sure, they have lost series before. But not like this. Never. WTF is up???

this has to be a record for the worst hitting, worst approach to at bats, and overall looking insanely terrible at the plate swinging at anything that's thrown to them.
every batter is down 0-2 in the count everytime. never seen the yanks this bad.
What a stud performance by Kuroda, wasted.
they're under a mountain, but you have to win 4, if they could find themselves, win the verlander game and have CC and Andy back to back after that, who knows?
    Wishful thinking. Beyond wishful.

The obviously can't go down 3-0. But I mean they aren't working counts and pitchers are making good pitches to force them into pitchers counts. And it seems like no Yankees can hit a breaking ball.

Cano, Arod, Swisher, Granderson, Tex. One of them needs to get hot and the rest will. But they are running out of time to get hot. It might be time to small ball with those batters up. Usually you don't, since they are real good at getting extra base hits. But if there is a runner on second, no outs with Arod or Grandy or Swish or Tex up, I don't mind one of them trying to bunt the runner over. They are probably going to strike out anyways.

that call at second was incredibly bad. I don't know how it's possible to miss that call.

    Kuroda was fantastic again.

I think there were more Ks in that game than in any other game I can remember seeing all season (excluding extra innings).

"This is a very easy place to play now," Tigers outfielder Quintin Berry said. "Coming from Oakland, the fans there were so rowdy. It was easier to come here."

True story, fans in the bleachers Saturday night were threatened by the ushers not to yell out anything about the Tigers "sucks", otherwise they would be ejected from the Stadium.

Part of why the atmosphere just isn't the same any more

How can you be excited when everyone keeps striking out or blowing any momentum?

No runs whatsoever...Ibanez home run was loud...But yes this place is not the old Yankees Stadium.

Awww! Poor Widdle Nicky Swisher needs huggies!

    http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/swish_is_different_kind_of_fall_4ssSEs7pHMJISPyCqSCQ0O

Swisher is one of the most popular players among the Stadium’s fans, but the crowd has been on him for his postseason struggles. And the right fielder admitted after yesterday’s 3-0 ALCS Game 2 loss to being disappointed by the fans’ reactions.

“It hurts,” he said. “Sometimes I’m a sensitive guy. Some of the things people say, they get under your skin a little bit but hey, I’ve been lucky to be here for the last four years, and we’re not going to go out like this.

I’m one of those guys that you give me a hug and I’ll run through a brick wall for you. Right now it seems like there’s a lot of ... I’m trying to find a way to word this the right way, it’s tough. It’s really tough. Because you want to go out there and you want to play for your city, you want to play for your team. Just right now, it’s just really tough.”

Its the postseason Nick and you get paid millions of dollars to play for New York...They arent asking much, just that you get a hit once in a while....I guess his sensitivity will take him somewhere else next season.

He's getting paid 10M this year. Nick, go to Scores, and get all the hugs you want.

I watched the condensed game last night on mlb.tv (no announcers, just sounds of the game) and as Swisher missed that foul ball, reaching into the crowd in the 8th, I heard very loudly "YOU SUCK, SWISHER!"

then later in the inning "YOU SUCK, JOBA!"

And finally when Avila and Fielder were next to each other going after a foul pop, and Fielder put his arms around Avila:
    "FIELDER ALMOST ATE YOU!!!!!"

WHat I want to know is how is he able to torque his body to consistently slam a 95 mph fastball into the stands. Defies the laws of physics

SERIOUSLY??? A-Rod not hitting, but he's still swinging the wood...

Perhaps Ibanez or Chavez will show-up instead. :)

    He’s got balls.

Shameless Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez was playing so poorly against the Detroit Tigers Saturday night that he was yanked from the lineup — but that didn’t stop him from trying to score.

After being replaced in the bottom of the eighth inning in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, the highest-paid Yankee openly flirted with a pair of pretty women two rows behind the dugout — even sending them a ball bearing a note asking for their phone numbers, a witness told The Post.

“I watched him flirt with two admittedly very cute young women nearby,’’ the witness said.

Instead of rooting on his teammates as they struggled to stay alive during the tense game at Yankee Stadium, A-Rod, 37, had a ball boy toss the young women a baseball inscribed with a message asking for their numbers.

“Alex was holding a pen and wrote a note on a ball which was thrown at the women by a ball boy,’’ the witness explained.

“The girls, who had already caught two balls, seemed bemused at first and tried to hand the ball to another fan, but other fans noticed the note on it and yelled at them to read it.

“The note asked them to write their phone numbers on the ball and throw it back,’’ the witness said.

“One of the girls, with darker blond hair, wrote . . . on the ball and threw it back at A-Rod, who gave her a big smile.”

“They exchanged a few glances after that,’’ as A-Rod took a powder while a pinch-hitter took his place at the plate.

Raul Ibanez performed under pressure, tying the score in the bottom of the ninth.

In the 12th, team captain Derek Jeter broke his ankle — and A-Rod finally wised up, the witness said.

“The flirtation stopped once Derek Jeter got hurt,” the source said.

The Yanks wound up losing 6-4.

They also lost again to the Tigers 3-0 on Sunday.

Fans sitting behind the dugout at Saturday’s game said they were disgusted after witnessing A-Rod’s shenanigans, which were more befitting a sixth-grader than a serious ballplayer.

“I was absolutely stunned that even . . . A-Rod would not be focusing on such a critical game, supporting his teammates, and was instead more interested in adding another couple of phone numbers to what must be a very, very large collection,’’ one said.

A-Rod’s rep referred questions to a team spokesman, who didn’t get back to The Post last night.

Rodriguez is currently dating wrestler Torre Wilson.

As Page Six revealed last year, Jeter also has used baseball memorabilia to win over the ladies.

After bedding a beauty, he’d send her home alone with gift baskets of autographed memorabilia.

He is dating model Hannah Davis, who was spotted in his family box Saturday.

Wouldn't it have been easier for A-rod to secretly tip one of the security guards or stadium workers to send those girls a message on his behalf? How could you be any more obvious... especially in a playoff game. This guy should really take lessons from Jeter's book on picking up chicks.

Prediction: Hughes throws a no-hitter and the Yankees lose 1-0 in 11 innings.
