Same subject, but new information. Again, pointless but entertaining speculation. Things look a little brighter, and not just because of today's win. Some of our opponents are not looking so invincible, e.g the Rams and the Cardinals. I've always considered the Rams over-rated, and still do. We’re 3-3.* Week 7: @ New England - unfortunately, the Seahawks screwed us. The Pats will want their pound of flesh, and we're the flesh. We lose. We're 3-4. Week 8: Dolphins - they scare me, but at home we win it. We're 4-4. Week 9 is a bye.* Weeks 10 & 11 are the question marks because they’re away games.* Week 10: Seahawks away - ?? Don’t know. Right now I wouldn’t want to play them, but in a month who knows. Talent wise, they are so-so. But they're tough and tenacious. I afraid we lose this one. We're 4-5.* Week 11: Rams away - The Rams have beat some average teams and have a good record, but they're soft and over-rated. If our offense stays balanced, we can win this one. We're 5-5. Week 12: Patriots at home. NE is definitely struggling, but.....I think we lose. We're 5-6. Week 13: Cardinals at home – Hmm. Had a good start, but I think they have played better than they actually are. They're beginning to look very normal. We win this one at home. We're 6-6. * Week 14: Jaguars away – Jets win. We're 7-6. Week 15: Titans away – their 2-4, but have played a tough schedule. The Titans are better than their record indicates. I’m doubtful. We're 7-7. Week 16: Chargers at home: Tough game, but we win. We're 8-7. Week 17: Bills away – will be tougher than week 1, but *we win. We finish 9-7.* On my first post, I couldn't get us better than 8-8, but now 9-7 is not a stretch.* Beating the Colts is not the reason, but seeing a more balanced offense is part of it. The main reason is our schedule, it's weak. (Is there a strength of schedule measure? If so, where does it rank?) What will it take to get a wildcard?
I see your optimism but it may be hard to gauge your offense on a team that had a lot of defensive injuries such as Vontae, Angerer, Freeney/Mathis, etc. I think 8-8 or 9-7 is reasonable for you guys however ... remains to be seen.
I will start calculations after we are done with Pats and Dolphins games. Next two games will tell us a lot about this team.
Well, a loss to the Dolphins will nullify this post, but I think we have to expect a loss in NE after the Seattle game, and not put too much significance on it, even if it ain't pretty.
The Seahawks HELPED US, not hurt us. Can we please get that straight for the small amount of people who think otherwise? Even if the Pats are angry, they have a ton of pressure. To me there isn't any pressure on the Jets. This isn't a game you expect them to win. Going and playing a division rival on the road is always tough especially the division leading team for the past decade. Even if the Jets lose they still get a chance to respond in week 12. If the Pats lose then they are in some trouble. They lose the division lead outright along with the head to head tiebreaker and then they have to play the Jets on Thanksgiving night. Going on the road again is tough against a division rival, but thursday night makes it even tougher. The Pats don't want to be in a position where they have to win on thanksgiving night. That will be really tough for them. As a Jet fan I am extremely happy where I am at right now. This team is 3-3 despite all the injuries and if they can win these two games they could go into the bye week 4-0 in the division and 2-0 in division road games. That is huge. Get it done Jets!
I am not looking at those games just for the results. We might go 1-1 looking shaky or we might go 1-1 looking decent. I liked what I have seen last 2 weeks. If I see the same hustle next 2 weeks I will start making playoff calculations
I'm happy too, but I disagree with everything else you said. "Pressure" is not something that will affect the Pats like you think it will. Finding themselves in a corner will motivate them, not hinder them. But.......we'll see. I hope you're right.
You're dead wrong about losing to the Patriots. They look like a high school team and are clearly not that good. They are what their .500 record says they are.
There's pressure on both sides of the Pats game. The Pats are coming in looking to fight and bounce back. They also know, at least as things stand today, we are serious contenders in the division so the win is almost a necessity. We also see the game as a serious opportunity to control the division and at very least gives us an opportunity to hold a wildcard. I see OP's point that we can afford this loss and it's expected but for the players and coaches I hope they do not approach it that way, unless the plan is to try to get them to show their cards this time so we can try to trounce them next time. However, with the way injuries are taking down our players I would hate to take that gamble and go into the second game with a weaker team.
To be honest, just get in!! This year all teams have weaknesses!!! Not sure we are good enough, but I would rather get in then be 3-13.
exactly,Jet fans have no faith, some of the most negative people on planet earth,10-6 is what it will be,Trying to predict every game is stupid things change everyweek in the NFL, and we have only gotten better since the 49ers loss the Jets are about to show up big time on Sunday
I would love to see this place if we're 5-3 and 4-0 in the div at the BYE and compare it to after the SF game. Please God let this happen!!!
