This is the difference between you (i.e. a real fan in my book) & haters like those that crawl out i the last 2 weeks. You acknowledge positive, but having experience with this team wisely hold off the excitement. Yahoos nd wahoos, on the other hand look for anything negative & dismiss positives. Cro is a very good corner & at least one of those pass interferences was very questionable to say the least. That said against a quality passing team like NE there will be more opportunities or those questionable calls. If nothing else, because Brady will get the benefit of the doubt. Consequently, same D plays as against Colts will not be enough to beat NE. Further, this will lead to Mark having to carry team more because I suspect that BB's 1st priority next week will be stopping the run.
As has been the plan against the Jets all year long. Stop the run and make Sanchez beat you. Its not rocket science. Its up to Sparano to develop a game plan that is far less predictable against a HOF DC/HC like Belichek. Hate him or not, Belichek is the gold standard and he's already going over the film of this game and if I don't miss my guess, the focus will be "stop Greene". Its also up to Sanchez to play like a 4th year pro. He played well today but lets see if he can string two in a row.
Ooo, you have seen through my charade! What a clever gentleman you are! And you have completely dismantled my point! Kudos!
btw can these soap box fans get off it? they act like there is and has been no reason for the hate from the fanbase...and most of them were probably part of it...and if ur such super fans and superior to anyone who may question this team, where were you the last few weeks? i tend to call that fair weather....
I have faith to the point that in one of my fantasy leagues I kept Sanchez and Hill specifically so that I can play them both next week.
someone afraid of being excited or simply unwilling to be excited because they are afraid of potential disappointment that may follow isn't the criteria for a real fan. that's the criteria for a real pussy. you can be excited about every win and still be under no false illusions about how good the team is just because they won a game. holding off on excitement is about your own personal insecurity and fear of disappointment -- don't get too high or else the drop to disappointment will just be that much greater. screw that. you can be emotionally stable and excited about every single win. being excited about a win doesn't mean you think the team is somehow a Super Bowl contender. being a Jets fan doesn't mean being solemn about any victory unless it is the Super Bowl.
I was at the game cheering on my team, and pumped we got a win. You negative cunts, who only come on this board after a loss are fucking pathetic. I hope you all get a yeast infection and die.
Why are people attacking ghosts? Not one single negative post so far but people are up in arms over...what?
Hey, maybe it wasn't a "great" win, that'll happen next week, but it sure as hell was an enjoyable one. We had some nice passes from Sanchez and Greene showing a few moves. Anybody that can't enjoy a bright spot in what could be a messy season just isn't a fan and should just stop pretending they are. The goal is always the Superbowl but if that's not a possibility you put the saddle bags on the horse and ride into next year. That's it, chill out and enjoy the ride because as a team and a fanbase we are being written off and right now and I see a team playing Rudyball.
Did you notice the "wisely hold off the excitement" part of my post? I'm guessing you did not. I agree with you very much. I'm very happy Jets won, but won't go overboard with this. Just like disaster against SF was only one game, so is this -- one game, nothing more. My point really was that while it's not more, but it's also nothing less than a very good performance. Read back to my conversation with Cman55. He acknowledges positive without going nuts. My problem is with so-called fans who already made their mind that Jets suck, Sanchez sucks, the team has to be reshaffled, the season is over, etc. & it seems that no amount of positive news will ever change their opinion. A long time ago I learned that there are no absolutes except maybe the laws of physics.... and even those keep getting adjusted. Sanchez does not cary sole responsibility for our failured, but he is not absolved either. Tebow is not THE solution, but he is not worthless either... you get the point. Same with Jets in general. Winning this game the way they did does not mean Jets are SB-bound, just like getting emberassed by 49ers did not equal necessity to disassemble the team. P.S. After watching Greene over last... say 1-1.5 years, I was absolutely sure that he is done. Yet look at today's performance! No absolutes.
Can't cheer for my team to lose. I enjoyed the hell out of that game. Sure it wasn't an all world team but it's still a W.
I know it makes no sense, but it seems the Jets play at a higher level whenever Phil Simms calls the games. Phil still seems to think Sanchez is a good QB and complemented his playing several times today. Its weird.
