I'm pretty sure if Eli Manning was on the Jets he would be starting.

Tebow hasn't played. Your argument is not valid......no one has had a chance to rate Tebow because he hasn't played......next!

You sanchez lovers want it all ways. In the beginning of the year, all I heard was how terrible the Dolphins are, now they have talent leaps and bounds ahead of ours? Didnt Rex say this was his most talented team?

Sanchez has played exactly one full game this season without Santonio Holmes, who had 1250 receiving yards the season before he was introduced to Mark Sanchez. In fact, Houston was the first game in Sanchez's entire career where he played without a former 1000-yard receiver in his 20s. Tannehill's best receiver is Brian friggin' Hartline. Blaine Gabbert's current leading receiver had 30 yards receiving in 10 games last year.

Yes, our "weapons" sucked against Houston. What's the excuse for the other 3.25 seasons?

not taking sides, but out of curiosity, if the Jets were 4-1 with the same numbers would you feel the same way?

i'd be concerned with sanchez but if we were winning it wold be less of a reaction.

bottom line is we aren't winning and it looks bad...so i'm less willing to give him a pass. at the end of a day this is a win business...

True. I can't argue that point. BUT... I would like to see two stats:

    1. A comparison of how many dropped balls the Jets receivers have versus the League average. This may damn Sanchez or it may exonerate him.

    2. I would also like to see a more detailed analysis of dropped balls. In other words how many of these balls hit the receiver in the chest and fell to the ground versus balls that counted as "dropped" but would have required a Herculean effort to catch. This analysis compared to the rest of the league would also make for interesting reading. Again, this may damn Sanchez or it may exonerate it but it should silence some of these debates.

Anyone up for doing this? If this available anywhere?

I think that if I were on the Jets roster right now I would be starting.

I can't speak for the poster to whom youve posed this question, but as a general answer I dare say that regardless of the results people would not think highly of Sanchez. Did anyone think Trent Dilfer was a great QB when he "led" the Ravens to the Super Bowl? That has been my gut feeling on Sanchez for four years: that he was the Hispanic Trent Dilfer. Except he is paid like a Joe Montana. Not smart.

So while I think that the outright hatred and mudslinging would subside, I don't think it would fundamentally change the debate. And if it did it would be very little. The fact is that this is a team sport and of the TEAM wins we are happy, but we still want the players holding back the team to be removed. It is getting difficult to argue that Sanchez adds anything. At best he is a placeholder and at worst he holds the team back.... Perhaps quite a bit.

The Jets are 19th in the league with dropped passes.

    -hosted.stats.com/fb/tmleaders.asp?type=Receiving&range=NFL&rank=232-

There is currently no Jet player that is on the leaderboards for dropped passes.

    -scores.nbcsports.msnbc.com/fb/leaders.asp?type=Receiving&range=NFL&rank=232-

The top 5 leaders in the NFL in dropped passes....Saints, Lions, Texans, Giants and Falcons all have QB's who are among the leaders in the NFL in completion percentage and passer rating.

currently according to PFF the jets are .4% below the league average for drops. Drops being defined as best I can tell as a that is on target, not defensed and does not cause the receiver to drastically contort his body to attempt the catch

and there goes that defense for the apologists.

at what point can we agree that Sanchez has his moments, but is erratic, is prone to throw a devastating pick at any moment, goes on hot and cold streaks, and at the end of the day does not warrant a #5 overall pick nor is a franchise QB.

ppl looking to say otherwise are reaching at this point, IMHO.

Sanchez had a nice post season in 2009 and 2010....He was also backed up by the leagues best defense and run game.

    In 2011, he was trash.
In 2012, so far he's trash.

It just is what it is fellas.

He had his moment. His moment is in the past and I see no signs it will ever return.
