Jets got the ball with what, 4? 3? 2? minutes left? Down by 6 (TD WINS IT OMGZ) Does history not dictate that this is Tebow time? Tebow is what 6-1 in that situation? (one loss vs KC?) I know they wanna give Sanchez the chance to win the game. I can't really fault that, since he is the starter. I disagree with the decision to put the ball in his hands though.
That was Sanchez's game to win, you do not throw your back-up in on the last series and hope for a win. At that point in the game you go with the starter and hope he comes through.
I agree. And the sense that the Jets would have been better off putting Tebow in in that situation? Goes a long way towards telling why he should be playing instead of Sanchez.
I agree with your points. It was Sanchez's game to win. I stated as much above. Is the why simply the positions on the depth chart however?
More is a function of more opportunities. As a percentage(while skewed due to small sample size) I'd say Tebow's odds are better. Right oh. It was infact Sanchez's game to win/lose. I'd hate for Tim to have screwed it up then have talking heads say how Tebow gave Sanchez a lost.
here are the numbers Sanchez has 10 4th quarter comebacks in 52 starts Tebow has 6 4th quarter comebacks in 16 starts
Thanks for finding some numbers. I wish I had the time to dive in deeper so I could see how many chances each realistically had (like within 1 score with < 4 minutes remaining) How many of those 52 starts had a chance for a come back. I'd blind ball park it at mebbe 20? So Sanchez is a respectable 50% in that scenario. I'm shooting in the dark on the number tho. For all I know Sanchez wins those games 80% of the time. I think the numbers would be interesting if nothing else. (sadly I haz too much work to do today)
Like I said in the other thread. That fourth quarter of last night game was a carbon copy of our game at Denver last year. Only this time we were Denver and we didn't strap our hopes on Tebow. Tebow would have given us the best chance to win that game at the end.
