Just got back from the game. Even though we lost, there are a few things we can hang our hats on. 1. We scored points. Let me repeat that: WE SCORED POINTS! I honestly thought, along with the rest of the sane sports world, that we'd get a field goal at best. Special teams for the Jets is always good, and i think we can reliably get 3-6 KR/PR this year. The offense actually showed up and moved the ball with a ton of injuries and some mediocre (note: not bad) qb play. I think what really cost us was the trickery we tried to play because the lack of talent we have. The onside kick and cromartie/mcknight packages on offense were completely unnecessary. 2. The defense is still reliable without revis. Cromartie looks great, and the rest of our corners are serviceable. Laron Landry is straight popping people. The lack of pass rush is concerning, but the defense did make some key stops today. 3. We lost to the Texans. Arguably, the best team in the league now. We showed a ton of resilience with tons of injuries. Arian Foster ran all over us, but for the most part we kept Schaub and Johnson in check. JJ Watt is having a defensive MVP type season, nothing you can really do about him. Honestly, if we had all our starters i think we would have destroyed the Texans. I am confident now that we can at least scrape our way into the playoffs this year.
SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!! There is no use in taking positives from a loss. There can be no optimism derived from losing, no matter if it was to an undefeated team when no one gave us a chance. THERE IS ONLY VICTORY!!!! At least, that's what a shitload of internet coaches have been telling me tonight.
I was actually afraid to sign on tonight, trying to avoid all the "we suck", "we hate blah blah blah" posts. Obviously I'm not happy about a loss, but we played a solid game tonight. Baring the first Texans drive, I felt we were either in control, or playing on the same level. Watt played out of his mind with his pressure and swats. Chaz was wide open in the back of the endzone, Cromartie could have brought down that catch..Sanchez could have lead him in a tad too. Chaz also had that onside. Too many easy drops, and the obvious case of the top balls in the middle of the field killed us. Nothing to be ashamed of though. Jets!
Weren't we supposed to lose this game by 30 pionts? I wish all the crybabies would STFU but I doubt it will ever happen. The game was decided on one or two plays that went their way. That's how it goes every week in the NFL. We played a good team tonight with a depleted offense and the game came down to the last drive. I don't see the problem. We're not going 4-12. We'll win enough games between next week and week 16 to be in the mix on the final Sunday.
Anyone doubting this team has a playoff run in it should check the schedule - it's probably the easiest in the league the rest of the season. The offense will be better when Keller and Hill return, and if they can play the way they did tonight while cutting down on the stupid mistakes a bit they could easily push for 9-7/10-6.
Good to see there are still some rational people on this board. There is a lot of season left, and things are starting to look up for the Jets after a week of pure misery.
fix the run D, fix the 3rd down situation, get some players back and start scoring TD's against the upcoming weaker teams. not throwing in the towel yet, i just can't get over the 3rd down conversions they give up all the time.
We played better than we did against San Francisco. Given how shorthanded we are, and the quality of our opponent, we at least kept the score competitive. We are still a poorly coached team with glaring holes on both sides of the ball.
I don't trust Mark Sanchez as far as he can throw the ball over J.J. Watt. We will lose at least 2 of those "easy" games, and probably end up about 8-8 or 7-9.
Well, we are 2-3, and look at the place that the people being honest with themselves projected this season to look like. Wk 1 Bills W Wk 2 Steelers L Wk 3 Dolphins W Wk 4 49ers L Wk 5 Texans L Wk 6 Colts W Wk 7 Patriots L Wk 8 Dolphins W Wk 9 Bye Wk 10 Seahawks L Wk 11 Rams W Wk 12 Patriots L Wk 13 Cardinals W Wk 14 Jaguars W Wk 15 Titans W Wk 16 Chargers L Wk 17 Bills W That puts us at 9-7, and we are right on track for that right now. Not loosing terribly to the Texans helped me feel that this record may be attainable still. Indy isn't a long trip, and I expected to win there. Honestly we have an easy schedule this year, and we've already played our 3 hardest games. The 2 Pats games are the next toughest, then Chargers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Rams, Titans, Colts, Jaguars. How many of the teams remaining on our schedule do we expect to go to the playoffs? 1 or 2. Expecting to lose to the playoff contenders is shitty, but in an injury riddled year making it is all we can hope for, and then once you're in it's any given Sunday from there.
i have a feeling the cards are the bills of this season. Starting out great then falling on their face. They are the only team with more of a fucked up qb situation than us.
oh sorry. what i meant to say was that the season is completely over at week 5. Forgot that being a jets fan and being hopeful do not mix.
I think you're being challenged because your arguments supporting hope make the assumption the Jets will somehow change. They are what they are until we see tangible improvements.
