i love that the Yanks exploded on the O's closer, who saved 51 this year, while at the same time having only to use Robertson for 1 batter, great job by CC, especially getting out of that 8th inning, they had the go ahead run on 2nd with no outs and he held them down, that was monstrous.
C'mon Andy!! I hope he can give them 6 innings tonight, he's been very good since his return, and this is the environment he thrives in, he's gotmore pstseason wins then any other pitcher.
that wasa weird game last night, Arod needs to getin the groove, or take him out of the 3 spot if he doesn't hit tonight. Ichiro was a nice pickup, he's hitting 322 as a yankee this year. Would love to score first again tonight and give andy a little cushion to work with. I hate playing catch up ball in the playoffs, it's brutal.

why the fuck would Girardi bat Nunez at DH and in the 9 spot. Why leave all of those
home runs sitting on the bench in Ibanez, Chavez, etc.
    He drives me to violence.
    2-1 O's bottom 5 right now

Arod is murdering me, absolutely murdering me. all i asked for was for him to
extend the game so robbie could come up. he swung at 3 balls on that last whiff
that went to a full count. Hey, they got a split, so now they at least truly have a homefield advantage now,
win 2 of 3 at home, they should do it. makes last night huge.
i still want to know why nunez was our dh, and 9th in the order. isn't a DH usually a guy who hits
long balls, drives in runs, bats 4th, 5th or 6th? fuck that pisses me off.
they'll pull this off, Andy was great.

I honestly didn't think they would go walking away 2-0 just like that. Final three games are in the Bronx so its basically a wrap.

    PS. Arod... sucksssssssssssssss

it's not a wrap, not the way they leave men on base.
but at least it feels like a homefield advantage since they at least split.
that top of the 9th was pretty bad. yanks had their chances, they have to hit better with men on base.
the O's have won 3 series this year in the bronx, they won't go away easy. i didn't expect them to walk away 2-0 either, but they ruined a great chance to that Pettitte gave them.

The offense absolutely shat the bed tonight. Andy had one bad inning but he pitched fine. A-Rod needs to be taken out of the 3-hole. Luckily for the Yankees their pen is rested for the most part. CC and Andy have combined for 15.2 of the 17 innings so far, and D-Rob has the rest. The Orioles starters combined for just 12 of the 18 innings so far. Wear down their bullpen

We needed at worst a split. We'll be fine. My emotions made me throw my entire existence at your fucking monitor,

I don't get what the justification is for batting a-rod 3rd anyway

    Cano?

Ideally, I'd like to see something like:

    Jeter
    Ichiro/Swisher
    Cano
    A-Rod
    Teixeira
    Granderson
    Swisher/Ibanez
    Martin/Ichiro
    Nunez/Martin

Arod should be dropped to #6. i am not a NYY fan but that is an objective opinion that should help.

back in the day if u had a struggling star who was not cutting it in his usual 3rd/4th spot, he would be dropped without question and slowly moved back up.

i really do not know why this becomes a cluster fuk.

"But who do ya bat bahind Canoer? He just gonna get intentionally wahked!" Well, guess what, fatty, he's gonna get walked anyway if nobody else performs. So far Tex has. Bat him 3rd or cleanup behind Cano.

I was thinking they might try the revolutionary idea of batting your best hitter third, rather than a guy who had an OPS of .783 and is in a clear decline. Just a thought.

    He said that? :breakdance:

In that case maybe the Yankees should just bench Canoer so he shouldn't get intentionally walked.

Francesa will never understand this, but it's usually a good thing if they're walking your guys, even if he's your best hitter.

Can someone explain to me why everyone is so focused on A-Rod (and justifiably so), yet no one, and I mean NO ONE is bashing Nick Swisher for yet another 1 - post season performance?

Let's face it: we knew at the beginning of the year that A-Rod was going nowhere with that contract. But for some reason, the Yankees exercised a 10M option on someone who has an even worse post-season track record than A-Rod.

Shouldn't Swisher at least be getting SOME heat from Yankees fans and the press alike?

One guy makes $10M and will be gone in a couple of weeks. The other guy hits 3rd and has 5 yrs., $114M left on his contract. They're both getting the appropriate amount of heat.

Swisher's playing his last few games as a Yankee. Just imagine if we'd taken someone's advice and signed the shitty Michael Cuddyer. He'd be just as bad AND have $21M dollars left on his contract. Now THAT would suck.

But that's my point: Unlike A-Rod, the Yankees had multiple options for Swisher yet chose to keep him and pay him 10M. They had no such choice for A-Rod or Teixeira for that matter. Maybe Swisher AND Cashman should be getting more heat over his futility?

Forget about the contract: Who would you rather have batting 6th tonight, Swisher or Cuddyer?

    Like who?

Well if we're forgetting about contracts, why not Pujols?

They're trying to get down to $189M by 2014, they're not going to give a multi-year contract to someone when they can give a 1 year contract to a guy who's a better player over the course of the season.
