How can any of you say Sanchez played a decent game tonight with a straight face? He completed less then 50% of his passes with a QB rating of around 54. He played anything but decent. He had a horrible game. This guy came into the game with the worst completion percentage in the league, and is the only QB in the NFL to complete for less then 50% of his passes. Enough of this guy already....he has to go.
I hope you are getting through to someone. You are doing some good work trying to bring logic and reason to discussion of football
He missed Cromartie for a TD. That was a big play he missed and was his biggest mistake of the night. What other plays did Sanchez leave on the field? The guy was making high pressure throws to bullshit receivers all night.
People excusing his picks tonight as tipped/batted better have been pointing out his 29 dropped interceptions in 2010 + 2011 -- a total almost doubling any other QB in the NFL during the same two year span -- or how he's had better than average tip pick luck, overall, in his career. Mark isn't close to being an an unlucky QB and never has been. I'm not giving up on him (primarily out of having no other choice), but, frankly, if he had even average luck in his career instead of the significantly above he has had, he'd probably be holding a clipboard somewhere that isn't here right now.
What was a bigger problem in the game then, pray tell? The offensive line wasn't great, but the only times Sanchez was really hit was when they ran the stupid five-WR sets on third down and the running game actually started to do okay in the second half. Defense was good, special teams made a play.
OL was bad. no excuses. shone greene couldn't get anything going. Sparano messing with subs, wasted downs with Tebow.
You can't count dropped INTs without counting dropped TDs and catches. Then you have to define what a drop is. Then you have to define the catching ability of each "drop" by player. A drop by Revis might be him making a ridiculous play while a drop by Cro might hit him the hands. Dumb stat.
Actually, PFF counts those things too and has their catchable ball stats as well. FO has catch % breakdowns and dropped third downs/red zone passes if you buy their prospectus. On the whole, it's all pretty much the same story: Sanchez has been very lucky in his career, overall. Again, I'm not giving up on him, but it's straight up homerism to claim unluckiness like some do whenever desperate to find a new excuse for him.
Sanchez restored my faith in him completing below 50% of his passes. I always knew he was that terrible
OL played pretty damn well tonight considering who they were playing. The Defense and special teams also played well. The running game is crap and QB/WR play is below average.
Nope, it's everybody's fault including Sanchez. Except maybe Cromartie and McKnight, those were probably the only two that stepped up.
hey I'm the first one to admit that sanchez made mistakes this game. but u have to view his play within the totality of the team and plays.
Don't forget that Lex Hilliard saved his ass on that one fumble or it would have ben 2 INTs and 1 FUM. Not saying the fumble counts (it doesn't), but that kept the game from getting blown up earlier.
Im one of the biggest Sanchez haters but i really cant pin this game on him. He made 2 really bad throws (cromartie and the swing pass at the receivers feet). The offense and defense is just bringing knives to a gun fight. They dont have the weapons on both sides of the ball. This is easily a 5-11/6/10 team at best.
I suppose Sanchez is responsible for the offense only getting 69 yards on the ground in what is supposed to be a ground and pound offense and the defense giving up 168 yards to Arian Foster as well. Sure, Sanchez could have made a couple of other plays, but the linebackers and the running game aren't cutting it, not to mention the "Who's That?" of supposedly-NFL wide receivers that is his receiving corps. Jeremy Kerley can't be the only legitimate target out there if Sanchez is going to put up even respectable numbers. Schilens was better than he has been, but that's not saying much. There are weaker links on the team than Sanchez that will cost less to replace and do more to help the team.
