Last night I watched the Ravens vs Chiefs and the Chiefs remind me so much of the Jets the last few years. It made me realize that Mark really does suck, granted his stats prove that but he has played well at times. I also realized our scouting dept really sucks. The Jets will not and can not win the superbowl with Mark as the QB. Yesterday Cassel only through I think 5 times in the first half because the coaching staff has no faith in him what so ever. With the way that Charles tore the Ravens up on the ground if they had any faith in Cassel the Cheifs would have been killing the Ravens. Everyone that supports Mark talks about the post season wins, well our D will not always hold an opposing team to under 25 points. If the Jets need 35 points to win the game we are screwed. Watching a player that so many people on this board including myself fall on draft day tear it up was Justin Houston. How much longer until we get a good to great rush OLB. This guy has 11 sacks in the last 10 games going back to last year. This just goes to show how much our scouting dept sucks ass. Another guy is that crazy bastard Burfict, he is tearing it up in Cincy. I strongly feel for the Jets to compete we need to draft Gino Smith in the first round this year. If for some reason we can not get him then it needs to be Lattimore. In the second it needs to be an OLB, what ever one falls.
We need a RB with break away speed and Lattimore doesn't not have that. What the fuck does KC have to do with the Jets? Cassel got weapons sanchez does not.
If we aren't up high enough or unable to trade up for Geno Smith, Lattimore or Wisconsin's Montee Ball should be the pick. Then again, we went with Quinton Coples when it should have been Melvin Ingram. Maybe we'll pick another CB. Ha. :breakdance:
In Marks first three years he has had plenty of weapons. Its an example of a team with a shitty QB that does have weapons and still cant win, sounds like the Jets used to be. This is a QB driven league and we dont have one. As far as Lattimore he is one of the best rb's in college and if we go after a rb it should be him. He can do it all in the toughest conf then he can be just what we need.
Preach it. We need to change the driver of this car. It is a QB league, and we are sorely lacking with Mark.
There's a lot of other things we don't have, receivers, running backs, offensive line, etc. We can win a Super Bowl with Mark as our QB, his play in the postseason proves that. Whether he's our QB or some other player, we're going to need weapons. I think there's a lot of things that we need to fix before the QB position. Unless there is a Drew Brees or Peyton Manning out there, our best bet is to ride it out with Mark and try to surround him with good weapons, something we have failed to do since he was drafted.
So using the Chiefs as an example, they have three decent wideouts, one great running back and another one that is still better than anyone on the Jets. Why cant they win, oh yeah thats right cause Cassel SUCKS.....they cant even score 10pts when they had tons of chances. This is a qb league and sorry but time start over. Either trade Mark away or shit can him in the off season and snag Gino....if we win to many games and are not in a position to draft him god help us because the Jets scouting dept cant draft a rush OLB for shit.
What would we have opposite Cro right now if we hadnt recently taken another CB? I admit that Wilson isnt looking great out there, but the plan was that he would (and he was a consensus 1st round talent going into the draft).
First off, you don't take RBs in the first round. Plenty of depth in the second or third rounds. Also, Tannebaum is too much of an idiot to draft a QB now. He just gave Sanchez a big contract so he he's not going to draft a QB right away. I personally want the Jets to draft Manti Te'o, ND's inside linebacker who has looked amazing this season.
I also saw the following yesterday - Cam Newton look like ass, Ryan Fitzpatrick once again throwing the ball to the wrong team, Aaron Rodgers unable to close a game out against Indy, Andy Dalton looking lousy, Joe Flacco was nearly as bad as Cassel, Michael Vick once again fumbling a game away, Gabbert looking like shit...playing QB in this league isn't easy. When you win you get too much credit and when you lose you get too much blame. Sanchez improved his play making last year behind a right and left tackle that were more wind dressing then blockers. The running game was a disaster and their were issues in the locker room. Still accounted for 32 touchdowns - a Jet record. Did he turn the ball over too much - yes no doubt, but did he also do enough positives to make you believe the guy has the ability, with weapons, the be a solid QB - yes. In his 4 years the Jets have taken the following players away - Leon Washington, Brad Smith, Thomas Jones, Alan Faneca, Damien Woody, LT, Jerricho Cothchery, Plaxico Burress, Braylon Edwards, and now Holmes, Hill, and Keller are hurt. Yet Sanchez improved in yards, compl %, qb rating, passing td, and rushing td last season. if anything Tanny should be on the hot seat for some horrible contracts for aging veterans, and for not restocking this team properly through the draft on both sides of the ball.
How could you still be on the Sanchez has skill bandwagon? He has been miserably inconsistent his entire career and the stat lines prove it. What more do you want to see before giving up on him? Perhaps for Sanchez to intentionally target DBs? Oh wait, he nearly does that now.
The biggest difference between watching a Jet game and most other teams in the league is the pressuring of QBs. Its absolutely amazing how almost every othere team has some sort of pass rush. Its the biggest game changer every week. Yet we dont have an iota of pressure. The second part of that is how most other QBs in the league handle the pressure 1000% better than Mark. ON Indy's game-winning drive yesterday, teh Colts converted 3rd and 10 in which Luck's arm was actually grabbed from behind as he was throwing. Luck held on to the ball, broke loose from the pressure, re-cocked and fired a strike to Wayne for the drive-saving 1st down. If thats Sanchez, its a fumble or sack 100 out of 100 times
How many 9-6 games have we lost and where has our jamaal Charles been? the Chiefs are nothing like us the last few years.
what happened to the exotic blitzes? thinking back to the Houston game in 2009, Matt Schaub had no idea what was going on. Our D dominated that O, where are those blitzes? where is the Rex creativity to put pressure on the QB? I'm not talking about sacks I'm talking pressure.
I was just having this conversation with some dude in Starbucks. Literally an hour ago. I have no idea where our defensive genius' blitzes have gone. Did the rest of the league figure them out? Seems they did. Those shits worked for one year and then we started giving up first downs on 3rd and 15 because they stopped woking. In my opinion, albeit humble, I dont understand how a defense based on corners works long time anyway. I hitnk the whole thing is retarded
Mark was great in the redzone last year, Matt Cassell has no red zone iq what so ever. Watch the game last year vs the Chiefs and please tell me again Mark sucks as much as Cassell. LAST YEAR ATLEAST
I agree. You have to throw in the wacky blitz schemes to get there. Even the Giants haven't been able to create a pass rush just by lining up lately.
It's not even that our blitzes haven't worked, we haven't really tried anything. what happened to all the guys standing up overloading one side and creating chaos? we never use those schemes anymore. Again, I think back to week 1 of 2009 and how we destroyed Houston, Schaub looked like a rooie who had never played any organized football before. he was scared and confused. why can't we do that tonight?
