There is no candidate out there that Jets can bring in & solidify their WR position. They went into the season with a young inexperienced set & now they're dealing with the consequences. You're looking for the candidate that isn't as bad as the others available but either way ... you're picking a bad candidate. Jets rolled the dice & have no choice but to see how it turns out. They can either grab a veteran that everyone in the league has ignored for the entire offseason/preseason or they can grab another young player that needs development (and most likely doesn't have great raw skills or he'd be on somebody's roster).
Ochcocinco was the best option Of course the Jets didn't get him, because they don't know what they are doing. Cheers to watching Shonn Greene for 2 on Monday Night while the better back rots on the bench.
If the Jets just came out and said they are going to a youth movement then no one would be complaining about not picking up T.O, Chad, Plax etc. But they are trying to sell this idea that they are trying to compete, but we look at the talent on the offense and it doesn't add up. Hill is garbage he may have speed but what use does that speed does when he doesn't know how to run his routes or can't catch the ball? At least T.O would draw a double team (similar to what Moss is doing in SF which opens up things for Crabtree and Manningham) he has the speed and is still able to make catches and his pressence would create openings for guys like Kerley and Hill. Sanchez would have a guy that he can throw the ball to and he can just go up and get it. But sure keep selling this idea that Jason Hill is an adequete addition for a team that wants to compete.
I hate to break it to you, but if TO could draw a double team, he would be on a roster. There is a reason TO, Plax and Johnson are sitting at home after 5 weeks and it is not only because of their attitude problems. It is because all three are done. Careers over.
He was drawing double teams in pre season. He even burnt a few defenders, and his play improved from week to week, he was cut because of the numbers game, NOT because of his play. His reputation has come back to haunt him, that's why he can't get a job. The last time he played in 2010 he had a good season in Cincy. T.O cant find a job for the same reasons Plax and Chad cant and that is their bad reputations. Keep in mind that Plax (while not being able to get seperation at times) was still able to make plays at crucial moments last season. It wasn't like Plax tenure as a Jet was this big failure as some Jets fans make it out to be.
Tanny is following orders: Woody: "Tanny, do what you need to do to keep the fans happy while ensuring we get the #1 overall draft pic".
Why is Cimini such a bitter prick? http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=new-yorkjets&id=16454 What's up with the unprovoked bashing of Gastineau and mocking him for his faith.
Wow, asa you think he couldn't douche it up any more... Funny thing is that he had also just posted another article bashing the game...unreal. I say go old skool and egg this muther fukers house on halloween
This. T.O. can still play, he just isn't getting any jobs because of his reputation. It's not like a bunch of teams are trying him out to see that he can't play. They just aren't giving him the chance. Only the Seahawks worked him out, and as was said, he was cut because of the numbers game. If you watched him during the preseason, you would have seen him getting open and getting separation, something our receivers do not do.
Why do people care if we picked the guy released from the Jags over the guys released from Miami, St. Louis and Seattle? Just because you've never heard of him doesn't necessarily make him worse.
Owens dropped everything thrown to him in preseason. It says something about how desperately bad our receiving corps is that I'm even thinking about him, but the guy drops so many passes, and he's 38 years old. 38. Coming off a major injury. With a young QB struggling with confidence, T.O. isn't exactly the best option there... All these guys are sitting on the waiver wire in week 5. None are major difference makers.
Owens has always had a problem with drops(well at least since he became a Cowboy), nevertheless he's still had a remarkable career. If T.O. has been humbled by these past couple years, then I don't see him being a problem here. He wasn't a problem in Cinci or Buffalo. If T.O. is the T.O. of 2010, then he is definitely a difference maker. Right now we don't have anything close to a 1000 yard, 10 TD receiver. Guy still runs a 4.4. He was out of the NFL for a full year, it was going to take more than a couple preseason games to get him back to speed. He was still beating corners and getting separation, though.
He played better in his second pre season game catching a few passes. I mean at this point what do the Jets have to lose? If he turns into his old self then we cut him. It's a low risk high reward move.
seriously, shut the fuck up about owens, chad, plax.. whoever. gotdamn. wah wah he was good in a preseason game. no, not the first one. i mean the second one! are you fucking serious? he was cut from an arena team because he was a jackass. an ARENA team didn't want to keep him around.
Pull up n article where it said T.O was a bad teammate in Buffalo or Cincy. If not shut the fuck up. Who cares about an arena football league.
I was intrigued by Jason Hill back prior to the 2007 Combine mainly because of this production at WSU. I was beyond intrigued after he posted a 4.3 40. That time surprised everyone (or maybe just me) as he did not look that fast on tape and has yet to look that fast in his NFL career. That said, he has some talent; hopefully he can take full advantage of this opportunity as it may be his last. Remember he was the guy talking smack about Revis being overrated a year or so ago prior to our game against JAX that he didn't even play in...LOL
If all we can get at this point in the season is a guy who can't get open and drops passes, then we might as well get a YOUNG guy who can't get open and drops passes. If by some miracle he DOES pan out, then he won't be playing bingo with Mark Brunelle at the local Dry Beaver Retirement Center next season.
chad johnson looked terrible with arguable the best QB and coaching staff in football. yet he is suppose to perform on a horrible team with a terrible qb? really?
because all those options suck, may as well bring the one that comes with the least amount of baggage.
